    Which Roos to Keep?

I want to create colorful egg layers. Pretty birds that are functional lol. I think I also have a FBC Maran roo too. Everyone is free range right now except my silkies and lavenders but the only roo I have at breeding age is my Polish and we are eating all the eggs from the few hens that are...

    Which Roos to Keep?

Now that my baby flock is growing up, I need to decide which Roos to keep and which to let go. I have my Tolbunt Polish who will stay for nothing more than comedic relief. But for breeding, I need to make some choices. I have 2 Ameraucana rooster (supposed to have all been pullets). One is...

    Young Peahen with Swollen Sinuses

My little girl didn't survive the night :( My little boy has it now. He was fine night before last and had an eye swollen shut yesterday so we immediately started the Tylan 200. Also put some vasoline on his eyelid to try and soften the crud so he can open it. Moved him out where he can get...

    Young Peahen with Swollen Sinuses

Luckily her's is still squishy. One side was swollen last night and both sides this morning. She's having to breathe through her mouth though. I moved her to a smaller coop with just one companion

    Young Peahen with Swollen Sinuses

Thanks! My husband is picking some up after work. I called 3 vets and none will see peafowl. Including the exotic vet and avian vet.

    Young Peahen with Swollen Sinuses

Waiting for a call back from the 3rd vet I tried. First vet doesn't do much in way of birds. 2nd doesn't have their bird vet in until Monday. She looks completely miserable. Eyes are swollen and draining. She's got something that seems to be dried mucus on her beak. I had some Vet RX that we...

    Blue Wyandotte?

First, some more pictures of my blue chicken. I can't see her earlobes though so I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow. I have a younger one just like her but my horse stepped on it's foot so I've got her in a makeshift pen in my garage. In the 2nd picture, you can see the red crested one in...

    Blue Wyandotte?

I'll have to catch the blue girl again and get a good look at her comb. I took more pictures today but you can't see her comb in them. Just 4 toes like all the others

    Blue Wyandotte?

That's what I was thinking as well. She did have other silkies for sale so it makes sense. This one isn't fluffy like my others though :(. My white silkie cross is the friendliest chicken I've ever been around. If only she'd stop pecking my toes lol

    Blue Wyandotte?

Caught the 2nd girl and gave her a good once over. She had an extra toe on each foot. One of them is more like the extra dew claw on a Pyranees. She also has one giant feather growing off one foot. I'll add the pictures tomorrow

    Blue Wyandotte?

When I bought the first one, it was from a lady selling a bunch of assorted chicks. Some were supposed to be pure and some mixed. I now think maybe all were. My "silkie" doesn't have the extra toes or feathered feet. I have since gotten 2 pure silkies and there is a lot of difference in them...

    Sick or Injured Baby Chick

I got 3 fresh hatched cuckoo ameraucanas on Wednesday. I put them in with 2 that are about a week old. One was dead this morning and one was close to it. The older chick was standing on it and pecking at it. Set it to the side, figured it was as good as gone. Went out a bit ago to give fresh...

    Hello From WV

Today I finally went in the babies coop and got an actual count. Now that I have, I think it was my cochin crosses that were killed by the possum but I had 2 light grey chicks with feathers on their feet and now I don't have any :( We have 68 total right now. Here are a few pics Here's...

    Hello From WV

Thanks for the welcome guys! I'll add some picture of all my cheepers when I get home this evening. Do have a quick question though, for coops being used for nighttime security only, how much space per bird? Or how big of a coop for roughly 70 birds? They're all free to roam where ever during...
