    Wire meshs' EXPENSIVE cost!

I usually buy from either http://www.mcmaster.com One thing about them - you have to watch their pricing - it can go up and down. Luckily enough for me though - I also have a local manufacturer of wire mesh material - http://www.bwire.com I am usually down there 2-3 times a year, looking...

Best place to get hardware cloth or welded wire mesh on a budget?

@ DMCLAIN --- Got my 1 x 1 welded material here - http://www.bwire.com/index.html Didnt rake me over the coles, although I am local and could pick the stuff up in my truck, if they have to ship it, it may add a significant amount to your costs - it is heavy stuff!

Ok Raccoon chicken / wire - Hardware cloth question

Could not agree more that hardware cloth is 100 times better than chicken wire. The chicken wire is so flimsy its almost usleless, which hardware cloth like they sell here - ( http://www.bwire.com/index.html - Galvanized or Stainless Steel) is tough for a small animal to move and tip/tear...

For this purpose, welded wire and woven wire cloth, will make virtually no difference. They both will hold up over the test of time, the weld of the wires will not break apart. Depending on how much you need, I know the way these places usuall sell this stuff in rolls of a width of either 36"...

    Finished edge on hardware cloth?

Ok Raccoon chicken / wire - Hardware cloth question

2" x 4" seems to be the correct and most popular size, but what alloy is best? I would think stainless steel to avoid the mesh from getting rusted (good list of alloys seen here: http://www.bwire.com/ ) but thats just my opinion. I am glad you pointed out that everyone here should bury the...

Will 2"x4" welded wire mesh keep skunks n racoons out of my coop area?

If you decide to go with the galvanized hardware cloth 48" roll, absolutely fold the bottom 12" and staple or fasten somehow into the ground. You migth not be worried about anything getting underneath for now, but pests are just unbelievably sneaky. Another aspect to watch will be the height...
