Share Pics of your Farm Dogs

I love the picture of the Bull Terrier with the lamb. That is just so sweet. Reminds me of the peaceful kingdom passage in Isaiah 11. If I were in New Zealand I'd be begging you for a pup As I'm in KY - Hello CHICKMOM - where did you get your Irish Terrier? I need a good dog that will...

    Drake crushing eggs?

I asked this on another thread, but probably should have here - Anybody ever have a problem with a duck marauding the goose nest while the goose is taking a break, to break her eggs? I have had two of her 13 eggs busted and I suspect the Cayuga drake. I found my hens fighting over the tiny...

New to geese-small town suburban setting-update

I didn't know Metzer would send out small orders - I'm glad to see they do. I hope this might be a growing trend for the breeds that can be sent safely in small numbers. I have a question - anybody ever have a problem with a duck marauding the goose nest while the goose is taking a break to...

    Quandry over 2 swell breeds....

I love my buff geese. I also had a hard time deciding but I'm happy with the choice I made. They are very nice geese. My goose laid a baker's dozen and then went to setting. I suppose she might repeat this later in the year if I let her which would make her about average. I have discovered...

New to geese-small town suburban setting-update

You might try efowl for a small order - I got my two American Buff from their service. As to the geese - I am very happy with my Buff geese. They will carry on a bit of something or someone strange is nosing about but mostly they don't make any great deal of noise. They are very calm and...

    Roo gone/How long -

Thank you - that is good news. I sold the roo b/c he was so aggressive and bought some welsummer eggs thinking to get a rooster from them that wouldn't be such a challenge to own; but I've had disappointing results when candling and fear none will hatch. Some are to dark to candle so I can't...

    Roo gone/How long -

I sold my rooster last week end but would still like to hatch a small clutch. How long will the hens still produce fertile eggs?

    12+ Welsummer Hatching eggs

For instance, Rhode Island Reds tend to get a bad wrap. I was looking at your web site earlier and was surprised to see what you said about your RIR! I was also impressed with the rich color of the hen you have pictured. I noticed a similar comment about the Marans. What would you suggest...

    Question about Cayugas

My Cayuga drake has a green bill - So, it should be black? Thats slightly disappointing - but he is absolutely beautiful anyway!

    12+ Welsummer Hatching eggs

I am interested in your comment about the roosters having a good temperament. When I decided to have a small flock I did a lot of reading and settled on Australorps; Partly due to reading from several sources that they are friendly - and that even the roosters have a good disposition. My hens...

Duck with a broken wing....help please

I wanted to chime in and offer some encouragement. One of my runner ducks got her wing broken last November. It was a very bad break with a chunk of skin also missing. We took her to a local vet who was wiling to treat a "farm" animal - as you probably know - many won't. He wanted 800.00 to...
