I have 4 hens at the moment... 2 buff orpingtons and 2 new Hampshire reds. They are just now a year old, and in the past week one of the hens has started laying almost pure white eggs. I've tried searching on here and haven't found any great answers. Does anyone have any thoughts? Should we...
We have some chicks due the 18th of March. It's our first time incubating. We bought a genesis hovabator 1588. We put 37 eggs in and candled yesterday. I think we're down to 26 (11 not developing). 13 of the eggs are from our own flock, and we bought 24 Marans eggs locally. I think the...

My biggest fear is that it might bring a disease in. I've read on here that it isn't good to bring mature chickens into your flock. It will only be for two weeks. I'm planning on doing it unless someone can give me good reason not to. I'd just hate to lose my flock (as small as it may be).
My wife and i have 5 hens and are hoping to hatch some of their eggs this spring. Our roosters that we had last year were getting a little aggressive so we decided to make them dinner. Anyway, we have a friend who has a bunch of chickens, and we're hoping to borrow one of his roosters so we...

so i built a chicken coop this past spring. it turned out great and i'm very happy with it, but i was rushed to get the chicks in it because they were out-growing their brooder. in my haste, i left out building the nest boxes that i really wanted. i want to build some external...
