Good news! Looks like enough angry emails and the like were sent that this is going to "fix itself": http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2012/may/07/town-talk-national-food-magazine-highlights-wheatf/
Hello!
I don't post on here much--more of a lurker--but I'm from Lawrence and I have a small backyard flock. Along with a few friends, I'm trying to drum up some support to get the Lawrence chicken ordinance amended in response to the city shutting down chick sales at Orsch this year. While...
Right now, I have four chicks that are six weeks old and three ducklings that are three weeks old. They are not living together yet, but I plan for them to as soon as the ducks are fully feathered and everyone gets close to the same size--probably within the next few weeks. Because there will...
Darn! That's what I was afraid of! Good thing is, I'll certainly know how to pick one out next time. From the very beginning she was the bold one. I kept thinking she was just a brave little chicken--it all makes sense now!
"Norah" is about 5 weeks old and is certainly falling into the roll of flock protector. "She" is also getting a nice looking little comb, is not plump and chesty like the rest of the flock, and has pretty chunky legs. Any one want to offer an opinion on if I've got a roo here?

However, just something to think about, I asked this question at a rain barrel workshop this weekend and the instructor said to be cautious in collecting water for animals off your roof. Apparently...
Urgh. I know you're right (about the ducks eventually outgrowing her too). I just keep hoping that eventually something will click, and she'll start to make some forward progress. She's kind of in a holding pattern--not regressing, not taking off either--but it's taking a lot to keep her...
Here's my situation. Baby chick (1 of 5; two weeks old) is much smaller than her sisters.
(You can see a video of them here: towards the end, the smallest chick is standing next to the biggest chick for size comparison.)
I'm hand-feeding her 4-5 times each day, giving her electrolytes...
I have five, one-week old chicks. The littlest one is not doing as well as the other four. She's significantly smaller (maybe 2/3 the size of her sisters). It looks like she's eating and drinking, but she's definitely a little lethargic compared to the others. When I go to check on them she...
