is the patch the same size/texture as the rest of the foot? if so, it is probably bruising. just keep an eye on it to make sure it clears up.
is it raised somewhat, warmer than the rest of the foot, or with maybe a "squishier" texture? if so, it could be an infection.
Hooray! I've never had any chicks with crops like you described, but I've had a pullet with sour crop, and it is no fun. I'm glad your chicks are just little piggies!
Thank you! I will get her some antibiotics as quickly as I can. Do you recommend treating the entire flock since they've most likely been exposed, or should I wait for symptoms in them to show up?
I had some sick birds last week and thought it might be Coryza. This website and its charts were very helpful. Might help you now and in the future, too.

I'm so sorry! I know you said you wanted hugs and not berating, so keep in mind that almost all chicken owners have made mistakes that they regret. It's easy to say, "Oh, you shouldn't have done this or that," but just the fact that you seem so upset shows that you had the best intentions in...
This morning my Barred Rock came out of the coop and proceeded to lay a green, watery poop. I kind of freaked out because I had just been researching chicken diseases and remembered reading about green, watery poops. I ran back up to the house to find the chart I'd been reading. You can see it...
Rockin' Reds :
Here is a really helpful extensive poop chart that someone kindly put together. Fair warning...ick. Hopefully you can match it up and it will be in the normal category. Good luck!

I had an Ameraucana that would do that now and then if I went to collect too soon after she'd laid. She never went broody, though. I would guess your production girl is the same way.
Sometimes a new layer isn't quite sure when she's going to lay. I've seen a girl squat in a box for hours only to come out into the yard for a breather and...POP, there's her egg. It was quite funny.
I would say wait it out. Don't handle him too much or too roughly. Give it time to heal.
My fiance worked on a farm that had 600 chickens and one day while he was feeding he accidentally stepped on one's foot. He felt so terrible because for about a week the bird couldn't come out with the rest...
Oh my gosh! What a terrible story! I'm so sorry for you and your husband. Please let us know if anything else develops. Although it's terrible what's happened, it's even worse not knowing what would have caused such a huge trauma. Scary! But you've come to the right place for support. Hope you...
Hello forum. I've been coming to this site for a few weeks now and decided I better sign up so I can add to the knowledge here. This is my first post and I'd like to post a little bit about my flock so that I feel like a part of the group.
I've had birds twice before my current flock, with no...
