13 week old, Light Brahma rooster needs a new home. I don't have enough hens to support another rooster in the flock. Both parents of this rooster are from breeding stock and very large. This rooster is already big for his age and beautiful. He just started trying to crow this week. He's...
Yadkinville, NC - I have a big beautiful Light Brahma rooster who has become aggressive when I go near his favorite hen. He is also over breeding her. He's a good guy, just very protective. I'm not interested in going through the trouble of taming him. He is in a confined space with 4 hens...
I have a big beautiful Light Brahma rooster that I think might have to go. He's over breeding my poor little Cochin. He's a good little guy - a bit of a scardy-cat, and he's never been aggressive with me. He's almost a year old. I don't want to advertise on Craigslist so this is the only...
One of my Brahmas had a naked neck/throat for a few months. I knew the culprit was my blue Cochin. I've also seen the Cochin pull at the rooster's neck feathers but he doesn't stand still long enough for her to do much damage. I knew it wasn't a protein deficiency and bought some...
My hens like to put their foot on the side of the hanging waterer and watch the water trickle out until the waterer is completely empty. Does anyone else have this problem? Since it's a hanging waterer, I can't think of any way to prevent them from being able to tip it unless I build some kind...
OrphanNanny brought a rooster back from a car accident last year. He's living with his ladies on the farm these days. Here's the thread (you might find some helpful advice or ideas):

I'm looking to purchase two Brahma pullets in the Yadkin and surrounding counties area. I have 3 Light Brahmas that are a little over a year old. I prefer Light but any Brahma will work. If anyone knows of any in my area, can you let me know?
Thanks in advance.
I use straw. (did you mean "straw" instead of "hay"?) It turns to a nice mulch after a few months. The hens love spreading it and scratching through it. They get excited when they see me coming into the coop with a fresh bale in my arms. They get a lot of exercise and find a lot of bugs and...
Thanks for your input, guys. As it turns out, she had something stuck in her throat. It took quite a few days of olive oil to get it to go down - too far down to come back up. I do understand that she won't live a very long life and I considered the fact that she might have to be put down...
x2. I put them in a dry frying pan and browned them a little one time. My girls gobbled them up and I had to refill the "shell cup" with oyster shell until I had more egg shells to add. I don't fry them anymore.
