    Watery poop????

I moved them into a dog cage to give them more room to play. That also allowed me to raise the heat lamp higher so now the temp is around 80F. Right now they are cuddled together under the heat lamp. I put their food and water on the opposite side of the cage so they have to move away from the...

    Watery poop????

Quote: Gee thanks for that link! Maybe they are too warm. I'm going to move the lamp up a bit higher to cool things down. I've been keeping the temp at 95-98F since this is their first week. It's kind of funny to watch one of them poop. She sort of spreads her tiny feet, squats down, wiggles...

    Where to buy grit?

Go to any pet store and look for grit for budgies or other pet birds. I've used that with my EEs and they were fine.

    Poop around their buts?

Quote: Thanks! I just wiped their bums and will keep an eye on them. They do have water all the time and I've stuck their beaks in the water so they know where it is. I've also seen each of them drink so I don't know how they could be dehydrated.

Discovered new treat for my chicks...

Woke up this morning at the house was covered with shad flies (AKA fish flies, may flies) Here's what a shad fly is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayfly I swept up a dust pan full of them and took them out to my big girls in the coop and they went nuts. So I wondered if my 5 day old chicks...
