Roosters with F ducks, not F chickens.

Thanks! Good thoughts! I get where you're coming from.

Thanks, I did wonder about the ducks being messy eaters. I had ducks as a child and they were pretty filthy and would trash the feeding areas. I want sure if roosters would be ok with this or not.

I know they taste the same. And I know they are not bothered if they are not sat on them about me taking them. It is just my own beliefs on it. I don't drink milk or eat meat and keep my hens so I can consume eggs knowing where they have come from, healthy free ranged hens and not miserable ones.

I know they are not bothered. It is purely my own botheredness.

I don't want them mating and hens going broody and wanting to hatch eggs amd reproducing. I don't like the idea of eating fertilised eggs if I don't have to. So the boys are separate.

I thought so. It was more a question for humour. I was really interested in answers or experiences of the other questions.

Does anyone keep roosters with female ducks and NO female hens? I am curious..... I have 2 roosters kept separately form my 8 hens, I don't want fertile eggs and have ruled them out for breeding. What would be the dynamics of putting 2-4 female ducks in with my 2 roosters? My roosters are...

    Breeding hybrids

I would love to breed. My son would love the experience too. Maybe in the future when I have more land, so I can keep some roosters. Sadly, Bruce and Reginald will have to just remain as the roosters I rescued from becoming dog meat, not the spawns of a future bloodline. Having all the advice...

    Breeding hybrids

Well, they use the same performance for both reasons. So it's unknown. Neither have attacked me or anyone else so far. I've had a peck on the wrist once many months ago when I first split the boys to live alone from the girls. But a good shove from me has ensured that one hasn't been attempted...

    Breeding hybrids

Looks like I need more land of I want to breed. So I don't have to kill any roosters. I don't eat meat, I couldn't imagine eating any of my flock, I don't even eat unknown chickens. Bruce has had the odd moment of bossyness, he has done the odd wing dropped shuffle toward me. I just laugh and...

    Breeding hybrids

Yes, they are the same breed, hatched 2 days apart. I think I would have to get rather hands on to compare that on them them

    Breeding hybrids

⬆️This is useful to know.... See Bruce, my younger by a few days rooster, has a very wide pelvis and is generally bulkier than his few days older brother Reginald, who is an all round leaner and narrower chap this surprised me. Reginald was always the more adventurous chick (I've had them since...

QUOTE- "Be sure to give plenty of consideration to what you will do with the cockerels that result from any hatching that you do. It sounds like you may already have 1 too many cockerels and that can cause stress within a flock, especially when they are young and hormones are rampant." My 2...

Thanks. If my Barred rock x ISA mixes well I might have a go with ISA x Bluebell in the future. I was just worrying about what health issues might arrive form excessive crossing without much experience. If you and others have tried and tested mixtures without any issues, this brings me...
