    Janoel Incubation Experience

I too owned a Janoel Chinese incubator. First hatch was a learning curve and I had around 60% hatch rate. Second hatch made a few adjustments and had about 80% hatch rate. Third hatch I was sure I had it figured out and would have great success. And on day 5 the heating element went out and it...

    Hurt broiler chick

Plenty of you tube videos and articles on how to do it. Just need a few things. All available at your local pharmacy or market of such. You can move the leg and feel the tendon. And typically there's a ball where the tendon exists outside of the joint. Quicker you fix it once noticed typically...

Following. I too want to build one. I have an old dryer. Plan to retro fit and make a barrel style plucker.

    Hurt broiler chick

Maybe slipped tendon ? Common at that age. Requires resetting tendon and splinting the leg. Generally give meloxicam for pain/inflammation. But on a meat bird may not want to go that route. Sorry to hear about your bird

    Lockdown egg loss

Just put eggs into lock down after candling. Pulled 8 eggs out from 48 total. Is that a high, low, or normal sized loss? All were removed non developing. Will break eggs open tomorrow to see where they stand and where development stopped if it even ever started. Thanks for replies.

    Opinions please......"straight run"

For the first time I got birds out of state via mail carrier services. Breed I really wanted. Question is this......I inquired about sexed birds and the breeder insured she only sold straight run chicks. So I went ahead and placed an order for 12 chicks (day old). Of these twelve chicks one died...

    Bresse Chickens

Thanks for the replys. I appreciate the info. Out of the 11. One roo and one pullet seem to lay more then others. I brought the pullet in for the night to watch her. But she seems fine. Just likes to lay down. I'll likely place her back in the coop tomorrow.

    Bresse Chickens

I have 11 white bresse that are around 8 weeks of age. I've noticed most of them lay or sit while eating. Is that norm ? Do those who raise them control feed or have feed available for their leisure around the clock ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

5 week old chick gasping !!!?!!!

I have a 5 week old FBCM. She started off with issues pooing. Had a prolapsed vent and an excoriated bottom. Poo was very wartery. Treated bottom with warm rinses and a series of salves. With treatments she'd spit up some clear mucus. Started sulmet in water and diflucan by mouth. Butt began to...

    Is this sour crop?

Thanks eggcessive. I started her on corid and also on diflucan. She seems almost 100% today. I also have been adding poly vi sol to the water as well as save a chick probiotic. Hope I'm not over doing it

    Is this sour crop?

I have a chick that's 4-5 weeks old. Today I noticed she seemed somewhat lethargic. So I picked her up and put her by the food and water. Immediately she began to drink like a mad woman. When I went back to check on her she had clear fluid coming out her beak but it has more of a snot...

    Chick Deformity - advice please

Yes I kind of figured it's a bit late. Wish I would have noticed it earlier. After noticing the foot I went through the others with a fine tooth comb and all were normal. I'll likely leave it be unless I see it causes her trouble. Guess she'll be placed with the egg layers and not in a breeding...
