I am trying to find a home for 2 young roosters..Olive Egger and an Easter Egger/ Ameracauna. I have one rooster and that is all I can have...They are free to a good home! Any takers?
Just got home and candled a few that haven't pipped...several have pipped internally and I can see them in the air sac, hear them peeping and can see movement. I have read the article on "when to intervene" and understand it is risky...since we are on day 24, is this something I should consider...
I have 14 eggs on day 24 in a still air incubator. The first chick pipped at 8pm yesterday and hatched at 7am this morning. It is very healthy and making all kinds of noise and running into the other eggs as if to say "come on guys! Join the party!" I feel so bad that none of the other eggs have...

I would guess that shredded rubber could be hazardous because if they can, chickens will eat anything. I wouldn't risk it. Also, it would be really hard to clean up.
My guess is that this is definitely a Rooster based on the saddle feathers. He does look young. My Cochin Rooster just started mating with a few hens last week. I'm so proud! He is starting to act more "manly" and confident. He has not crowed yet, but he is slowly getting more vocal with low...
So, how is the rooster doing now? I'm in the same situation and my rooster won't defend himself. He is the same age as the hens, maybe it's a month older. We have had him 1 week and its getting a bit better but still not great.
Thank you! He is the most cuddly rooster ever! He just lays in my lap and hides behind me when he sees the hens coming. He knows I will protect him. lol
I have recently added a Giant Cochin Rooster to my flock...However, he acts like a hen and shows no signs of crowing or an interest in my hens who are 6 months old. He is very timid and the first day he hid in the corner with his head buried because the girls peck him on the head and have pulled...
