Love this post, I am sitting in bed drinking my coffe getting ready to go process 8 meaties. Not looking forward to it at all, but I am loving the adult beverage idea. Do you think 9 am is to early to sart? Lol!
Cornish X, something is just not "right" with those things. They give me the heebie jeebies. I have a Delaware Roo that is meaner than the dickens and yet a whole mess of other ones that are sweet as can be. Just depends one the individual personality I suppose.
Any suggestions on a pretty way to keep your eggs? I am using a white ceramic bowl that I like but I am interested in what you all are using. Wire baskets? Bowls? I like to look at my beautiful eggs everytime I open the fridge and the cardboard cartons are ugly.
Oregon Coast
Rain, rain and more rain. As much as I dislike it, it keeps my state a beautiful shade of green all year long, which I love. I also love the fact that we see snow only every few years for maybe a day or two and an inch deep at the most. If Oregon was maybe 15 degrees warmer all...
It sounds like your in the same boat as I was a few months ago. I tried Cornish X and won't ever do it again. I ended up getting 12 Delawares and have about 2 more weeks until butcher time. Ill let you know how it goes, so far so good.
Although not on your list I have to chime in and say pigs! I have 2 American Guinea hog girls and just adore them. They stay small, are friendly and are hillarious. Havent butchered yet but no doubt they will be delicious.
