    Live in Manteca, Ca. We got 3 chicks April 12 that were supposed to be pullets. Turns out 1 so far is a cockerl. He's a Coo Coo Maran. Lovely but if it crows it goes in our town. Free if your interested. Hate for him to end up in someones pot.

    over heated chicken!! Please help!

    We hit 104 the other day and filled a tub w/ water and put our girls in one at a time. Some hung out, some jumped right out, but all stopped panting and seemed more comfortable.

    Now it's not the heat, it's the fireworks! Every single time I look at my chickens, I wonder where their hands are!! Seriously. And on nights like this, they could use them. This also begs the question: where those "chicken fingers" come from?!

    Odd facial swelling... Please help!!

    I was gonna say the same thing. One of our chickens loves to mess around and eat black widows. It's her hobby. So far she's been lucky not getting bit. Our dog hasn't been so lucky however. Benadryl worked in that instance. Can you even give benadryl to chickens?
