With one hand I lifted this hen with the back of a small rake, while the other hand steadily held my hose on shower mode...long enough to be tired from holding it! She was loving it. It took three 'treatments,' but it worked. She came out of her trance and cooled down in these hot summer temps too.
Oh wow! One of my 14 week old chicks shocks me every so often by trying to eat the mole on my neck! Ouch!

Here are my pink eggs! I found these eggs today. I didn't realize my hens were laying yet! My broody lays the pink eggs. One of her girls first eggs look like a pale blue next to hers! Am I right?
My hen lays pink eggs! The outside color is a creamy pale pink, but the inside of the egg is the most beautiful shade of pink. It looks like the inside of a seashell. She is sitting on her first clutch of eggs which are due to hatch in four days! I think the Roo is a RIR. What will come of this...
I am going to try incubating a couple of Charlie Red's fertile eggs. The hardware store is also selling chicks in a week. I can't wait. But I believe my little hen loves her solitary life too! It will be an adventure! I'll let you know what happens!
Update on Charlie Red. She's now quite at home in her coop I bought her in October. She still free ranges in the day, gets visits from a neighbor rooster almost daily, and is laying pink eggs! She's gained weight and turned into a very pretty hen! At this point I'm fairly certain she qualifies...
