    Is it worth the money? I am not a handy person nor is my husband so building a run is very intimidating. So I thought about purchasing the Rugged Ranch walk-in run. But wow on $600. If you've had one is it worth the cost?

    I might have the same problem. Got my first egg (ever!) yesterday. Had two in the coop (not nest boxes) today and one was broken and they ate it. Planning to head to the feed store and get some fake eggs, but I'm hoping this doesn't become a habit!!

    Thanks for the responses!! I am totally leaning toward the taller pen now that I've had a temporary run set up with old toddler play gates. It's about 2.5 feet high and I have extra gate on top to keep hawks out and birds in. But Zelda is my escape artist and even supervised she finds a way...

    townchicks, we've looked at kennels, they're pretty $$, but I'm guessing after doing the pressure treated lumber we might be adding up the $$ once the hardware cloth goes on. Still I'm hoping to put a run with a low profile next to the coop.

    I definitely plan to apron the wire out to deter digging. I've seen fox on our trail cam... and we have everything from coyote to bobcats. the 4x6 idea in two sections is interesting, do you have any photos? And how do you get your girls back in after free ranging? I've spent most of my summer...

    Anything more than 120sqft requires a permit... but I"m wondering if that's only if it has a floor... like a shed... any way, I don't think I could afford that much hardware cloth!:) I'm planning on the run to be predator proof, so lots of hardware cloth.

    It would make things easier to make a big run around the coop but we don't want something that big in the back (we're in the burbs... and I bet there are building permits I'd need if I made it big enough to include the coop). thanks though!

    Dose #2 for Jordan and she's running around with the other chickens today, like nothing happened. She actually perked up a few hours after the very first dose. :) Thank you everyone for all your help and prayers. HUGS!!

    okay, gave her what was supposed to be a 1ml dose at the above concentration, but she drank 3ml... so I'm glad you said I can't OD her on the stuff. next time I'll be more stingy.

    I put 1.5 tsp in 1 gal of water and had her drink some of that. Is there another dosage that I should give her? Thanks! Oh, and yes, the rest of the water is in the waterer for all the chickens.
