not sure of what to do

Not even sure where to start. I'm fairly new to keeping chickens. Began in Sept. of last year and haven't had much luck, yet I love having them and am just looking for a break. I started with 2 Pullets an Australorp and a Barred Rock and then a month later got 3 more pullets, Orpingtons. I lost...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

I use pine shavings in my covered run but it's getting wet anyway in certain areas with all the rain today. My chicks are kicking up the wet stuff and eating what they can find under it. No mud since I have a concrete floor, but I worry that they are eating the wet food that was under the...

New 2 chickens with sick chicks what to do next

My vet prescribed doxycycline which seems to have helped. She did not draw blood or check discharge for testing. Listened to her lungs and checked her out basically. So no definitive diagnosis really. She did feel it is viral rather than bacterial.

New 2 chickens with sick chicks what to do next

I'm with two 12 week old pullets since sept 6th. 2 days after I brought them home I noticed one is sneezing and has discharge. Since I am new at this I brought her to a vet for an antibiotic which has worked I think. She seems fine now. A week ago the other my other bird began looking sluggish...

    Looking 2 purchase pullets

Thanks for your response. I forgot to mention that I am looking for younger birds 9-12 weeks so that they are around the same age as the ones I have now. Also I am looking for Buff Orpingtons and Goldlaced Wyandottes and maybe an Araucana. Again thanks for responding.

    Moulting

I am new to chickens this past month and have so far had a rough start. I started with 2 pullets with plans to get 3 more. After a few days I noticed that my Australorp was sneezing with discharge. Brought her to vet and started an antibiotic. She cleared up after a few weeks and is off...

I picked up 2 5 or 7 week old pullets on 9/6/17, an Australorp and Barred Rock with plans to buy 3 more pullets the following week from...

Just brought my first pullets home a few hours ago...a Australorp and a Barred Rock, both 5 weeks. Have 3 more pullets coming next Friday, same age. I am feeding with a standard hanging feeder which they went to right away, and and a bucket with nipples drinker. I showed them how the nipples...
