female call duck with both wing drooping

My girl, Foo, had one wing droopy for about 1.5 months (she also seemed to get very quiet at the time). Now both are drooping. They (I have her and Puddles her brother, as well as Pearl, a blue swedish female. All are almost a year old). Both girls are laying eggs and have been for some...

help....what kind of duck is this?

Thanks. I am not sure of the sex of any of them, although from the noise the calls make, thinking they are both female, as I have been told female calls are much noisier/louder then the males. But then, never having had ducks before, nothing to compare it to, either.

help....what kind of duck is this?

I adopted two call ducklings a couple of weeks ago. I was told I really should get a third duckling, in case anything happens to one. Saw this little guy on cl needing a home asap. They had no idea what kind, said it was about a month old (no idea of sex. I am also unsure of the sex of my...

heavy molt or something else going on?

Early fall, my bantam went through a really heavy molt. During that time, the other chickens picked on her, would not even let her sleep with them (she actually began staying out, I would have to go into the run and then carry her inside.) During that time, she lost alot of weight as well...

Should I keep the light on?

We have tight weave carpet that doesn't loop, so won't catch toenails. Will have hubby pop some down for them to help keep their feet warmer.

Should I keep the light on?

Oh, will have hubby do it when he gets back, just went to the store. I actually thought of stapling some tight woven carpet on it, but then forgot. How about fleece, would that work ok? I sew and have tons of it, I can even double up.

Cold chickens.....when to use heat lamp?

Thank you! That big fluffy girl is my Sapphire, my blue cochin. She is like a giant dust mop! lol Ruby is my little bantam girl. I think they will do ok now. I would imagine the lamp and not having the vents directly over them open will make it ok in there. We also completely covered the...

Should I keep the light on?

Thank you! It is pointing at them. They all snuggle up together every night (Ruby, the bantam actually sleeps UNDER the big girls, you can't even see her! lol) I am sure they are already much warmer. Just to get through this serious cold spell. Twenties and even teens they have been...

Should I keep the light on?

We covered the three closest to the roost, left the other two open (both the front and the back). I also have the heat lamp on over the roost for tonight, as well. Yes, it has been in the 20's here at night, so going down to -20, that is a huge jump! They have done good so far. We cleaned...

Cold chickens.....when to use heat lamp?

Well, here they are with the heat lamp. One pic was from before changing the bedding. You can see the snow that got in from the vents.

Cold chickens.....when to use heat lamp?

They do seem perky and normal, but my concern is tonight....it is going from 20 degrees to -20F overnight (that is actual temp, not counting windchill, could be as bad as over-30 below with teh windchill...we never get that cold here!) Was just doing this for tonight, as I think they have done...

Should I keep the light on?

Using fleece to stuff the pockets. Should I do them all just for tonight or leave a couple open? I have the heat lamp in there, and stuffing some of the pockets already made a huge difference. I don't want to do the wrong thing, just do want them freezing to death! Hubby is taking pics so...

Should I keep the light on?

Ok, put their heat lamp up over their roost, changing out all the shavings and adding all fresh and fresh straw on top of that, as well. Will close off some of the vents as well. Hopefully that will be good. I just don't want them to freeze overnight tonight, as it is really going to be alot...
