    Help!!! Rooster Laid Down

Thanks all. He is in my shower on a towel. Hopefully he will make it thru the night. He is laying down on his side again. I wish I could force feed him but he freaks out. He's practically the size of a turkey and quite frankly scares the bejeezus out of me. He attacked me once and my leg still...

    Help!!! Rooster Laid Down

Quote: Tried to do the pan thing and he got up. Had to abort... he is terribly mean and very large. At least he is sitting up now. Can chickens live thru something like this? I don't know if I can take him dying. I also put a pan of water near him and some yogurt.

    Help!!! Rooster Laid Down

Our rooster is completely lethargic. He seemed fine today but went to lock up our coop tonight and he was laying down on his side. He is panting as well. It is hot here. I brought him inside to see if he needed to cool off. Is there anything I can do?

    What to feed mommy?

Quote: Thanks. Was worried the hens would have problems. They are being really nice to the little chicks. I am getting scared going into the coop. lol They puff up now when I come in. . They are standing watch. Not helping but definitely watching. They usher them outside into the yard and...

    What to feed mommy?

I have 39 newly hatched chicks. They are out of the brooder... well in the coop with a heat lamp. I have 5 hens in with them. The hens are the mothers but the chicks were hatched in an incubator. My question is How do I feed everybody properly? The mommies are eating the chick starter. Is this...

Problem Chick? Not splayed/straddle leg... Now infection?

Made the decision to cull the little guy today. Was making progress but took a turn for the worse last night. While I was changing his dressing to clean his wound he reslipped the tendon and the wound opened back up. This morning I checked the leg and it had swollen so much. I thought about...

Chick with slipped tendon/swollen hock with sore? Update

Quote: Thank you. I really want to help him just wish I knew I was doing the right thing. So hard to tell if I am making him better or compounding the problem with my treatment. He is doing so well minus the leg bit. Tomorrow night I am going to start weighing him to see if he's growing. I...

Chick with slipped tendon/swollen hock with sore? Update

Well he seems to be doing much better. He's eating lots and drinking a ton. The swelling has gone down and the wound is healing. The tendon bit is still a mystery. Since the leg is casted the tendon is in place. Last night I took it off to get an idea if the tendon is staying in place when the...

Chick with slipped tendon/swollen hock with sore? Update

Almost forgot. Since I straightened the egg last night he finished of all his water and most of his food. So 2 tbsp food and 3 water for yesterday. Is that a good amount?

Chick with slipped tendon/swollen hock with sore? Update

Quote: I just moved the tendon back into place. If you extend the leg carefully it does it mostly on its own. Then I used ace bandage that sticks to itself and wrapped the leg mostly straight still has a slight almost natural bend to it. The chick chair is something I saw online. I have a...

Chick with slipped tendon/swollen hock with sore? Update

Quote: Thank you. A vet friend said neosporin was good and I could dip the leg in peroxide every so often. I have cleaning procedures down. Went to the feed store and bought some broad spectrum antibiotics for the water. Still not sure what to do with those. But making up some cool aid for...
