    Pekin Duck Club!

I have another question. I have two females, which I am sure of because I separated them within their house and both of them lay eggs. But now the bigger, louder female is holding the smaller one under the water on top of her and biting her neck. Is this a dominance issue like dogs? you think if...

    Pekin Duck Club!

One of my two ducks has very stinky poo. Can't tell which one. It's kind of sweet smelling sometimes and rancid others. Color's normal but sometimes runny. Is this normal? I have cut out treats and they are free range but also get crumbled alfalfa cubes and pellets. What would cause this? It is...

    Feeding Too Much?

What brand do you get? I have 2 month old chicks and have been feeding minethe chick starter the feed store sells in bulk and have no idea how nutritious it is or if it's organic. We also dig up worms for them because its fun and they love it!

found her first nest, now what!

Yes, and not any of the five are showing veins. She's been laying 2 a day except one day she laid one. We've been eating those. Bout to give up on the 5. Might make an incubator and see if the ones she lays this week are fertilized. But not sure if I'm ready to commit to babies. Got two yolks...

found her first nest, now what!

She's not broody. She sits on them at night (apparently since shes on her nest in the morning and they're very warm) but not during the day.

found her first nest, now what!

A first to hear 3 eggs? The third outside I know wasnt from before, last night I moved Bunny cages out of the new duck house(florida room) and left it hay and all and that's where I found the third one. My question: you said she needs to stop laying and start brooding. The temp outside is 90...

found her first nest, now what!

My phone is being difficult and won't upload the pic.. Will start a new post...maybe that will work. I read before I got them that I would be lucky to get two a day...so I was surprised. I found two in her nest this am, and one outside in the yard after I let her out

found her first nest, now what!

I candled all the eggs. 5 I suspect are ferilized, which after moving them and nest and her to theFlorida room she was sitting on them this morning. Cracked the thirteen and they all smelled fresh and were tasty. I wiped them off with a warm damp rag. One of those must have been fertilized. It...

found her first nest, now what!

Not sitting on them at all even though she's locked up with them, I mean. I was thinking of using my outdoor florida room dusk till dawn.

found her first nest, now what!

If I move the nest in hopes of a few possibly hatching, what are the chances, do you think of her abandoning her nest?

found her first nest, now what!

Maybe you can't tell from this picture but she made a very nice round nest about 3 inches deep. When I found her sitting on them it was 8 am and 84 degrees already but they felt much warmer than air temp. Does she need to be sitting on t hem more than at night only? Have been in the back yard...

found her first nest, now what!

Yes she is sitting on them. I live almost withing city limits and I have a corner lot totally fenced in(chain link). Ihave never seen raccoons but get an opossum a couple times a year. I found them when I was frantically searching for my female. The drake was alone and they are inseperable. They...
