Again, I have had these 13 gals since June 2nd. They are a year old. Our coop is large enough for 25 hens. We have 10 nesting boxes... I have two hens who chase the others away from the nesting boxes, peck or will even join them in the nest to get them out. ??? Is this normal? They keep...

Newbie here! SW Idaho area... Have 13 hens: 2 White Plymouth Rocks, 2 Black Sexlinks, 3 Red Sexlinks, 5 Buff Orps and 1 Silver Sebrink I think! Looking at adding 4 Barred Rocks and 4 Black Austorps (sp?) soon.

I don't know how to post a picture here, sorry, or I would of the coop. It's kind of dark but not really.... don't know how to make it darker. I put oyster shell in feeder tonight for them. Protein content now is 17% mixed with 21% so pretty high compared to some I've seen. Will see if...
