Hello! I have a five week old Wheaten Ameraucana chick with cross beak. She is small but adapting and eating fine. I’ve been monitoring her for any signs of suffering. Out of all the existing posts on this condition, I haven’t seen any mention of possible sinus problems caused by this deformity...
May I ask what confirms it more for you all, feathering or comb or all of the above? Because now I’m questioning a full BCM that looks so much like a boy to me but has no comb to speak of. See what I mean?
Ah, ok. I’m new to “cool” breeds and the lady I got him from just briefly said they were all from her Ameraucana’s eggs and the dads were either of those breeds, but that an Ameraucana x BCM = olive egger, which I suppose is consistent with what you’re saying!
Hey everyone! I thought I had nailed their genders a couple weeks ago based on how they feathered out, but this one (attached) has recently sprouted some pretty masculine looking feathers on “her” shoulders and a more prominent comb than her sisters. She’s five and a half weeks old and an...

Hey guys, sorry for the gross picture, but I just found this dropping from one of my six week old chicks (spread on white surface). It looks to contain blood and/or tissue and I’ve heard this could mean worms or a parasite of some kind. What do you think?
As far as I can tell, he can see my hand from both eyes. I’m wondering if it could be as simple as a thorn in his foot? I noticed him pick up his right one a few times and there are wild rose bushes in our yard. He doesn’t appear to be injured, so I hope he’s not in pain :(
Hello! I have a six month old Orpington rooster with a strange quirk: He looks and the ground and backs up confusedly, as if he’s dropped a penny, seemingly out of nowhere for about a minute several times a day. I don’t think it can be confused for a challenge because it’s not directed at anyone...
Hey @Rain Dance, I agree with the above! We thought our hens weren’t laying, until we found a pit of about fifty frozen eggs in the woods. If you can find and block their makeshift nest outside, we’ve had a lot of success with decoy eggs. We put one in each nest box and they immediately switched...
