Hi all, I'd like your opinion on whether these are pullets or roos. I'm pretty sure both Welsummers are boys but I'm not 100% of the Wyandotte or the Australorps. I think Australorp 1 is pullet and 2 is roo but this is my first time raising chickens so advice would be great!

I have a group of chicks that are about 4-5 weeks that are on non medicated feed because they were vaccinated. I just got 8 more chicks that were not vaccinated and I have them on start n grow medicated (they are caged separately) I have read varying answers on how long to keep them on...
I purchased 3 bantam Cochins from a breeder and I think one may be a frizzle which would be really cool. The feathers are coming in differently than the others. What do you think? Now I just hope it's a pullet!
Thanks. Do you think it's a cockerel? I also wasn't sure if it is an australorp, it has fluffier cheeks than my other australorp but doesn't have the same look as my Araucanas.
One of my chicks has a beak that is not straight. Is there a name for this, and is it a concern? It seems to eat just fine. Is there anything I should do?
I have 13 chicks and use a feeder and waterer like this. It seems like they are wasting so much feed. I filled it last night before bed and I bet 1/2 was all over the paper towels this morning. I don't know how or why with the holes like this - it's not like it's spilling. Are chicks just...
I have my first batch of chicks, 13 various breeds, purchased from a local "show breeder". Very pretty birds, but these chicks are straight run which I'm not thrilled about. What age can you determine if the chick is a pullet or cockerel? I don't intend to keep any cockerels. I want a...
Thank you!! I just hope they turn out to be hens. They were only sold as straight run. Eggs are very pretty, part of the reason I got them. I also want Marans for the deep color. What is your first favorite breed?
I bought a bunch of chicks from a breeder yesterday and I'm having a hard time keeping these 3 straight. I bought 2 Welsummers and 2 Gold laced Wyandottes (1 died when we got home due to me not noticing pasty butt at the breeder's). I am pretty sure Chick 2 & 3 are the same breed, just don't...
Does anyone have any websites or resources for some good coop plans for cold weather? I live in WI and my husband will be building the coop. He's a builder, but knows nothing about what is necessary in a coop so that's my job to research! I can't find much online for actual plans.
Hi,
I am just learning about raising chickens and would like a couple for egg layers. I was thinking of purchasing some juvenile chicks and getting 4-5, all of different breeds (buff orpington, black australorp, easter egger, silver laced wyandotte, and a red star (not sure about the red...
