Hi, i have 2 broody Silkies at the moment and 13 hens altogether, i have been taking the eggs from under the broody hens daily as they are not fertile and using them to eat.
Will this effect the hens at all and is it ok to take the eggs off them?
Thanks
Ok, done that, i removed the brown scab/poo and there was just more redness but no liquid blood, i put my fingers inside and felt a whole egg and squeezes it out, its a little lighter in colour than usual, inside seems normal

Hi, today i found my first dead chicken from my flock, last night she seemed fine but this morning was dead :(
No obvious signs of death, no bite marks, i checked for broken bones, could not see diorhea or blood in the fesis
The only thing that looked slightly out of place was her vent hole that...
Heres some more picks of chick 2
Also have 3 black minorca's all 3 have large combs, could they be roo's also or is it just the breed?
Ckick 4
Chick 5
Chick 6
My neighbours are ok with the chickens, both neighbours have noisy dogs so they can't complain.
The 4 chickens i have are fairly quite but the next door neighbour also has 4 and one of them is very noisy in the morning.
Anyone think number 2 is a roo or should i get some better photo's? Chick 1 was the first i ever hatched call Olive soon to be renamed Oliver
Also the third photo from the bottom has a black minorca in it, i have 3 and all of them have a comb similar, could they be roo's to or is it to early to...
Number 2 does have a smaller comb and is paler in colour so hoping for a hen, number 1 and 3 where the ones i thought were roo's due to the early redness of the combs.
Out of the 3 i was hoping 1 would be female i'm still in denial about number 2
