I have never seen one this bad!

unfortunately this is one of the first chicks I incubated so I am so overly concerned! I have done everything I can. But I wonder what caused it.

I had an older br hen that even tried to crow like a rooster... the mounting etc didn't last very long...

my black australorp chicks are 4 wks, but outgrowing the brooder..It's still pretty cold here at night 45 degrees, they are pretty much fully feathered..I still think I should wait a couple of more weeks, since it's so dang cold..Snowed here last night. This is the first time I have tried this...

I really can't say,but someone else may know alot more about it..My experience was that they were fine after the pressure was relieved..but it sounds like you didn't hit the spot where you can suction out the fluid. Glad she is better!

I know it's hard to do it the first couple of times, my hens showed no discomfort having the needle penetrate..and they were certainly relieved! Good luck and maybe try this other procedure too!

if you can find info on Ascites (sp) where the chest, abdomen keeps filling with fluid..I had to take a hyperdermic needle, poke into the fluid and suck it out.This happened to two of my Barred Rocks, a couple of times. They went on with their lives just fine
