I see what you mean. yeah I figured out the messy duck thing pretty quick. when I got the ducks/chicken, I build a 6'longx3'wide open top cage for them with food and water on a table in the middle. well at first it was fine, but close to 2weeks, it was obvious that the side the ducks preferred...
Wisconsin. I haven't looked on craigslist for lumber. I do look on craigslist for just about everything "usually". but living out in the country, most of the stuff I find that I either need or want is in the next 2 largest cities, which are roughly 1 hour in either direction. however menards is...
Yes the Chicken will only be upstairs, but have full free-range during the day..............still working on the how part. but if you look through the pictures above, I posted 2 pictures with the "window" that I closed off on top with scrap wood and chicken wire, and then posted a second picture...
No the coop is only the upstairs. Downstairs is where we keep all our gardening tools and supplies, and that's also where the ducks and geese are going to live. Plus our 6 cats currently live in the smokehouse and the garden shed.
Yeah climbing the ladder is the only real downside (for me)...
Oh I didn't mean that I bought the DE for this problem. Just in general, it seems to come up for alot of things, so I figured I'd get some.
I did post a picture of one of the poops above with the other pictures.
So I have another question. I was sitting outside with them for the last hour or so and letting them play, and was seriously listening to their "quacks" and "peeps", and I know you guys said it's to early, but I believe there is a night and day difference between the 2 birds. I tried taking a...
I have heard of "blackheads", but I need to do some more research on it.
I did find a site last night that had (even though for chicken) some info and pictures that looked very similar to what Turk has, and a natural (my prefered) remedy, so I'm going to try that.
Here's what I found...
So here's what I got so far. (this is going to be for 16 chicken. 5 hampshire reds or something like that, and 11 bantams)
This is our garden shed. (and my 2 baby ducks and 1 of my 6 cats)
The entire upstairs was unfinished, but based on the "ledge" around the wall, and the 2 "antique"...
Here is where my 4year old boy is picking out MY "leopard print" chicken, MY 2 ninja chicken (well i couldn't find pitch black chicken, so these were the closest. and turns out there not even black. they all silver with black spots now....barred rock), and 2 for himself. he picked a brown round...
oh. can you sleep in with ducks, or do you have to let them out "bright and early in the morning"???
I haven't figured out why yet, but everybody says that for chicken you have to get up at the "crack of dawn" to let them out. I don't really understand that. why can't they wait until I feel...
now that you mention "bonding" with me. The last 3 weeks that they were in the cage, they did not like it when I tried to handle them, and every time I would carry them to and from their "bath time", they would quack their heads off. and if I carried them separately instead of together against...
I actually found and started reading that link that you posted above. Thanks.
As for your very last part, I guess I must have a female then, because she loves being held, loves climbing on my arm, and loves my wedding ring. Earlier I build a divider wall in the cage that I had Turk and all my...
Update: So I walked in to check on my birds, and noticed one of the smaller bantams looking up at the turkeys vent area and peck at it. Now granted I only saw it make 1 peck, and it didn't look like it pecked directly at the vent, but rather one of the few remaining feathers, or a droplet of...
This was shortly after we got them about 3 weeks ago
Now 3 weeks later, here they are just sitting in my garage. They don't seem to do much else.
Here they are drinking the cats water after I showed the ducks the garden shed
Here they are discovering the bowl I put between the garage...
