    dogs as guards

    2 german shepherds gaurd the chicken coop with no problems. We have a small yard so they can not free range and my female dog will kill them if I did. The dogs do a great job keeping the coons and possums away!!

    7 chickens and getting 4-5 eggs a day. Past 3 days not a single egg...I am not really complaining because I am swimming in eggs right now BUT is it normal for them to take a vacation??

    When will my hen lay?

    I have 2 buff orpingtons and at 7 months they have started...it is slow because of the cold weather. I don't blame them I don't even want to get out of bed either!!!

    Proud of my girls!!

    After 4 days I had 5 eggs and enough for an omlet for me and my hubby. I can say it was the BEST omlet EVER!!! I'm so proud of my girls for giving us such a yummy breakfast!

    My First Eggs!!!

    Wow! That's a lot of eggs! We have 7 girls- 2 RIR, 2 BO, 2 Jersey Giants, and 1 white leghorn. The weather has been very up and down lately with it being in the 30's for the past 3 days. (I live in Florida). Maybe when it warms up tomorrow they will bless me with more eggs!
