Amigos! Charla aquí en español solamente (Post here in Spanish only)

Amigos! Charla aquí en español solamente (Post here in Spanish only)

Hola!!

Attempting to hatch under a broody

Oh im sorry!! I checked Vespa's eggs, and they are peeping!! One of them, the Ancona egg, already has a tiny beak crack (it has a special name, should look it up). It is night time here in New Zealand, we might have some newly hatched chicks in the morning!!

Attempting to hatch under a broody

Any news? Our broody has been sitting on her eggs for 3 weeks. We candled the eggs and they all looked viable, but we are first timers, so not quite sure. Let us know how did it go for you, how many days did you have to wait until they hatched, if they did? Thanks!!!

    British Araucana thread

Great news!! We are hoping to be grandparents (from Vespa's eggs) any day now. Chicks due on 28... Hopefully all 4 hatch. We've been candling the eggs and they all seem viable. One Araucana, one Ancona, one Wyandotte and a Mottled Peking bantam, should be a cute bunch!!!

    British Araucana thread

Yes thats what i thought. Plus, we don't have a lot of room for equipment, nor time to fuss about baby chicks. A mother sounds like the easiest, most natural way. It will have to wait until Monday at least tho.... Keep me posted on Toot's progress!

    British Araucana thread

Oh she is Toot is cute!!! Try and give her plain yoghurt, with some flax or sunflower seeds so she can sort of pick the yoghurt. Thats what got Vespa on the lay. It is confirmed: after 2 weeks of laying, she is now broody. It will be so nice to have bay chicks!!! And to find out if she is a good...

New to BYC!! All the way from New Zealand.

Thank you for your welcomes!! And since you are all so helpful, I am going to Ask. I have been reading the different threads and forums, but there is soon much out there, it is hard to find quickly, and I have some seedlings to put in the garden. So, my question is: We think our British Tailed...

    British Araucana thread

Hi, We have a Lavender British Tailed Araucana, complete with her "mullet". Her name is Vespa. Here is her first egg, along with those of Gina and Tonica and Lena Kravitz. Here she is hanging out with her mate Ferrari, our Blue Leghorn. She is the cutest but not super friendly to...

New to BYC!! All the way from New Zealand.

Kia ora you all; We aren't super brand new to chickens, but becoming "official" with Backyard Chickens after peeking without registering for about 7 months (hehe). My partner calls me "Crazy Chicken Lady" as I love our girls so much, and I keep thinking we might need yet another chicken...
