Two of each; Silver Spangled Hamburg, Speckled Sussex, & Ameraucana.
I used the recycled lumber, screws, nails, wire fencing, and roof shingles that we brought from our previous coop and chicken run on our 5 ac home.
Not finished yet, but you can see what I'm trying to do with my...
Stephi & Ameracuna Chicks
Chicken Tractor for the new Ameracunas. I should have made it bigger than 3'x8', but for 4 hens it should be ok.
The wheels are only on when the tractor is moved to a new location. I've decided to use only 1 nesting box at a time.
I'm always amazed, they're so...
The Girls' view out of the coop
We still need to build the Run so they can enjoy the outdoors
Larger feeder I made since they eat so much now
Nesting box made from recycled wood; used to be a bed frame
Coop after a coat of paint. They want a 'Run' so badly
They finally figured out they...
Pine pellets seem to work better than wood shavings
Chick's first day out in the backyard
Brooder made from an old moving box
Timmy, our 4 mo old Chiwinni puppy loves the new chicks
Old water tank that I'm converting into a coop
Years worth of old branches and lil pieces of lumber that...
I recently watched a TV show (Dirtiest Jobs ?) about the feral chickens in South Florida, and I was shocked. Not only is it sad that chicken owners released them, intentionally or not, but the way they are being rounded up by county employess ("Chicken Busters"). Does anyone have accurate...
The Mini Coop is 95% finished, just needs the feeder, water, light, locking mechanism and the chain for the coop's door.
The ideal is to be able to let the girls 'Free Range' as much as possible, but at night the blue door will be closed.
Thanks, Timmy the dog was rescued from a Chihuahua breeder that let a male Dachshund get too friendly & he's been the best pet I've ever had.
Yes, Cherry Tomato, Red & Yellow Peppers, Melon, Zucinni (?)
We moved out of our home on 5 ac and back into 'town' on only a 1/3 ac, but I'm going to try to keep 3 to 4 good egg layers.

I bought what were advertised as Buffs at my local feed store and what I ended up with are white pullets that lay medium/large light blue/grey eggs. Only 1 of the 4 baby "Buff" chicks was actually a Buff. I've done a little research, but I have not found mention of a white breed that lays blue...
Take a look at my post, '1st Chicken Tractor Pics'
I think that sounds a lil small. But it may be ok for young chickens or for a temp coop. If I ever build another one it'll be 4 ft wide and 10 ft long; that should be a good size for up to 6 to 8 adult pullets. Alot of the commercial suppliers...
Nuggetsowner:) :
I love the tractor! Great job!! How old are your pullets??
My laying pullets are 6 months old, the chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old.
Our 1st 4 eggs, beautiful aren't they?

The wire thing? You must mean the power cord for the heat lamp; it gets pretty cold at night in this part of California. You're not clueless, atleast you noticed it
I finally completed the Chicken Tractor, delivery of the wheels took a lil longer than I thought it would.
Sorry for the large size, I even reduced them 1st. I've decided I'm only going to keep the 4 Ameracunas in the Tractor. Next tme I'll make it 4 ft wide and 10 ft long...
