This is a new chunk she passed and the same piece opened up.
She is eating small amounts of oatmeal soaked in water then mixed with buttermilk, raw cow milk and probiotic powder now. Not much interest in drinking so having to force water or pedialyte mix down her.
Her crop is pretty empty in the morning and through the day, it's not bulging and she falls asleep when I massage it. Her abdomen is not distended, I do not feel much except her breast bone really. I also did a an exam to make sure and did not feel an egg inside.
I will grab wormer today to...
Mine got a smaller injury like this, I made a small pen in the grass so it would be cleaner and put some antibiotic ointment on it and it healed well. It was a lot smaller though. Hope it is ok
I have a 3 year old chicken that I found wanting to stay on the roost all day, her tail is down and she has lost a lot of weight in last two weeks. She had a leg infection a little over a month ago which went away with antibiotics (a leg band was poking into her leg and caused it to get swollen...
I caught the Polish pecking at one of the others eyes yesterday, of course the other one just stood their since she is the most docile one. We have trimmed her poof a little to help her see but were a little afraid of getting too far down. Anyone have tips for doing this or if we can end up...
Thank you, we think she is cute too....it's her saving grace . The only one that stands up to her is the Barred Rock, then the Polish will jump in the air at her but luckily the Barred Rock doesn't back down. I'm glad to know it's not only mine who does this crazy behavior , it's just so weird...
This is my small flock. My Polish seems to be the aggressive one though and is the only one that has ever chased or pecked me (when I'm not putting food down ). She will also jump at me and the barred rock, I've seen her try to peck at the other's eyes too. They are 22 1/2 weeks and this...
Finally getting eggs at 22 1/2 weeks! I figured out today they are from the Red when she laid the 2nd one today, first was 2 days ago. Now the other two just need to start doing their share
I used a rabbit hutch also and it has a wire bottom but has a pull out metal tray that slides in underneath for cleaning. With this in place, I would think it would keep animals out but would the wire bug the chicken feet?
I used chicken wire to build the run, not the plastic but actual wire. I guess I will need to figure a door out that I can slide shut on the inside at night since I don't think I would have room to swing one around in there but will definently be putting a door on it now. Door designs are one...
I used a rabbit hutch to build my coop/tractor and a run off of it. I have a hole cut in the back wall of the coop with a board for them to get in and out and was wondering if I needed a door on it? It's in my yard with 6 ft fence so the only animals I think could get in are birds or moles. I'm...
This is what I made out of a rabbit hutch and it seems to work good for my 3 chickens. It is divided inside so the nest boxes are in 1/3 of it and the roosting stick and feed and water are in the other part.
