I went out side today to see one of my chickens with what appears to be a broken egg hanging out of her. She won't go near the flock and is definitely not acting right. Any suggestions? Will this pass on its own? Or should I be worried? I put them all in the coop and everyone is in but her.
I'm a clean freak as well. In our coop the whole floor is lined with linoleum. I put Pine shavings on top of that so they can lay on it. It's never a mess where they lay. On the other side of coop is there perches and under that I line it with newspaper and that I roll up every morning and...
I have one that started laying her egg between 630-700. This is something new. Everyone else does their business between 830-1100. I wish I could do something about this since she has become our alarm clock every morning now. I didn't realize just how loud they can get. But I love them more...
We are new chicken owners and we were told that our 6 hens were not suppose to lay eggs until 22 weeks. Well this would be mid September for them. Cleaning out the coop this morning a found three small eggs. Two were cracked already and one was untouched.

Yes we close them in at night but just wondering if we have to do this forever or will they come in and stay in without us having to close them in every night?
