the pekin ducks are acting normal, but the rouen is acting a little funny. he will swim around and eat/drink a little, but then will just stand tall at attention, quacking in his low, soft raspy voice for a couple minutes, then go back to doing what he was doing and the other ducks are doing...
I am having the same issue right now with my khaki campbell duck. She is normally attached at the hip, so to speak, to my rouen drake, but this morning he is here, as well as my pekin ducks, but my KC is MIA. good luck, I hope all is well for her

My duck flock consists of a rouen drake, a khaki campbell duck, and 3 pekins, 2 ducks, 1 drake.
the pekins are about 3.5 months old now, the other two are about 4 to 4.5 months old.
All of my ducks are free...

You do realize the Broad Breasted breeds are the Cornish Xs of the turkey world? Meaning they were not bred to live long lives, but to grow rapidly then be slaughtered at a young (tender) age before their skeletons and organs began to give out.
Some folks have kept them alive for...
dont put Jchannel at the edges of the metal roof. that will hold water, which in turn will allow the metal to start rusting at the one place it is most vulnerable, the edge, especially a cut edge.

I built it with a hinged lid for the coop to ease in cleaning it, and a hinged top for the run for ease in cleaning, feeding, and retrieving birds
in this pic it isn't finnished, I still...
as far as mulch, I don't know. I couldn't see it really hurting anything, unless it was really matted down with chicken poop.
I think I would just put it in the compost pile to till into the soil this fall, that's what I do with all the bedding from my birds' houses
Thanks for the reply.
I didnt think about the roost for them, I had figured on a couple heavy tree branches leaning to the corners.
Like I said, I am completely new to these birds.
will a hen generally sit on her eggs and hatch them herself in captivity like this or will I need to incubate the...
