    hen or roo?

When I got this one, it was about 3 months old already (now 5 months) and I was assured that it was a hen. However, I dont believe it is. I think its a rooster. It has spurs (I think), its HUGE, and its doing these random feeble attempts at crowing... anywho, attached are pics. What do you...

    Egg question

Hello! One of my hens has been laying for the past month now but will sometimes go days without laying. As far as I can tell, its only one of my hens that is actually laying because until 3 days ago, I've only been finding a single brown egg a day, but one time I found 3 in one day. I have 6...

    Stowaway Mallard duckling? Pics

Thank you! I actually vent-sexed them and this little one is a female. There are 2 Rouen drakes and 1 Peking drake in my flock of 11 birds... is this going to be a problem? I am going to keep the little Mallard as my personal pet instead of with the flock as she is already being subjected to...

    Stowaway Mallard duckling? Pics

I just weighed them on an egg scale (lol) and found that the one with a single stripe weighs 104g (3.8oz) whereas the rest of them weigh between 130g and 140g (4.6oz - 4.9oz) in other words, a big weight difference

    Stowaway Mallard duckling? Pics

So my ducklings and chicks arrived about a week and a half ago.. they are about 2 weeks old now. Anyways, after reading more in this forum, it came to my attention that I may have a mallard in my flock. I had originally ordered 6 Peking ducklings and 6 Rouen ducklings. When I picked them up...

    Hello from Southwestern Ontario, Canada

I have a big german shepherd, she's a wonderful family dog who chases away the stray dogs and cats.. I also havent seen a fox at all this year or a coyote (although, I DO hear them).. Saw a raccoon recently, he was trapped on my porch by my shepherd, she was barking at him and he was too scared...

    Hello from Southwestern Ontario, Canada

I can build a separate coop altogether for the ducks. I honestly only want them in the coop while they're tiny.. once they're bigger, I'd be more than happy to have them live outside of it altogether and in the pond. I forgot to mention that we also have hawks and because we live next to a...

    Hello from Southwestern Ontario, Canada

Hi Redsoxs! I (thankfully) live in an area of SWOntario that doesnt have bears, however we do have a LOT of raccoons, coyotes, foxes, weasles, bobcats, and feral cats and dogs. How big of a coop would you recommend for my birds? I havent built it yet, but have a ton of pallet/skids coming on...
