Thank you for replying and all the information. I appreciate it a lot. I have her in the breezeway in a box with straw and shavings and a heat lamp over head. I figure if she's worse then I think at least she'll be warm. Winter finally kicked into full gear here. She perked up this...

Kathy, Thank you, I am going to research this right now. Did your go from perfectly healthy to current condition apparently overnight?

She hasn't been wormed but does not feel thin. She feels healthy in every way that I can tell. Cannot see any mites or lice but will inspect closer when there is more light. Thank you for the input

Thanks everyone. I just went out to check her out again and feed her some warm scrambled eggs. She ate but is not walking anywhere. She doesn't react to my checking out here legs and feet and stands on the roost when I put her there but doesn't move so i'm going to research the things you have...

I'm sorry, she's not new to the flock. Bad wording on my part. She's been with this flock since June.

One of the new hens, to the best of my husbands knowledge never left the coop today. She's hunkered down into the straw. I went to check her out when I got home tonight and she let me pick her up, flip her upside down, check her out every which way I knew how. I don't see anything but when I put...

Hoping this post is appropriate in this forum. Our pullets are just over a month old now and all the google answers that i'm finding say that 5-6 weeks old is still a bit young to be out in the coop, but the dates are all much earlier in the year, so I can understand the concern. These gals...

Good Tuesday morning everyone! This article was brought to my attention last evening by a friend who knows about my chickens. I thought it was interesting and worth sharing. Despite visions of quaint coops, happy birds and cheap eggs, the growing trend of raising backyard chickens in...

I'm up with you. Since 3:30am now. Listening to the bullfrogs sing their song in the darkness. Doodle's first crow just sounded at 4:58am. I'm waiting for the morning light so that I can go out and get them fed for the morning before I head out for the day. Good morning :-)

Yes, Mikado gets some wonderful sunrises. And we're a short 10 - 15 minutes from Lake Huron where the sunrises are magical.

My neighbor lost their feeder last night to the bear. He checked out our empty feeder and then moved on. I'm actually surprised the run wasn't messed with because there were rinds in there. The chickens put themselves to bed around 7pm and the bear would have to knock over the coop to do...
