So here in my area in Indiana, we just had our first significant snow last night. I went to let the ducks out of the pin earlier & there was an egg. I have no idea what to do with it. I was told they most likely wouldn't lay until spring because they recently matured. Apparently that was bad...
Follow up question... "honking" means lady duck, right? I was pretty convinced my pekin was a girl this morning when she woke up honking. But after reading some threads, I'm not so sure. Some are saying boys honk, girls quack. I though girls were loud & boys had a softer, raspier sound? Based on...
Yes, they are already very fun! I'm pretty excited they will breed! I wasn't planning on a bunch of duck babies but I'm looking forward to it! Do I just let the ducks do their thing or do I need to take the eggs & put them in a warmer? I'm assuming the ducks will care for them since they were...
I have 5 ducklings of 5 different breeds. Pekin, mallard, cayuga, welsh harlequin & khali campbell. My harlequin is a female but I'm not sure about the others. Assuming I have a mix of males & females, I'm curious to know if I should expect eggs? And if so, do mixed breed ducklings do ok? I...
Still small! Haha
But seriously, his poop seems to be thickening up a little but it still seems like he's straining a bit. And it still strings & sticks to him
Thank you! I feel bad doing it because he hates it but I can't just leave him like that! They are currently on meatbird & chick starter-grower. My local Rural King doesn't carry duck starter-grower even though they sell ducklings??? But I'm making a trip to Tractor Supply tomorrow because I'm...
Also attached is a picture of the poop. It actually had some substance this time but you can still see the mucous stuff around the sides & it is stringy up to his fluff. Which is probably why he keeps getting poop & gunk stuck to his rear. He's mostly bald around his exit from the nastiness. I'm...
I cleaned him off right after I took that picture. He was not a fan! It seems irritated. He pooped out some more of the white foamy stuff right after. I don't think he seems bloated but he does look a little "puckered" if you get what I mean.
I just took a picture of his rear but I'm not sure if I should post or not? This is my first thread so I'm not sure how much is appropriate. It looks much different than the others.
I don't currently have a picture. I can try to get one though. I clean out their tote every morning & every evening. As of 3 days ago, they are mostly in the backyard while I'm home, fully supervised. Here's a picture I just took of the size difference. The others always seem to be protecting...
