Hi I am new at this and cannot figure out if I posted my question in the correct spot. Sorry to bother you but can you help?

Are you talking about sexing the pea chicks? Looks like you are in the right spot. Sexing pea chicks is difficult. Hopefully someone will answer your question. Good luck!

      Have enjoyed your postings.

Need help with navigating BYC. Can you tell me how I can start a new topic to pose a question? Not a conversation, forum, review. Thank you. Best wishes!

At the top of the page click the Forums tab and then decide which forum your thread would be most appropriate. Then click on the blue New Threads Tab located on the upper right of the page. Thanks for asking!

The black hens I have photographed are Jersey Giants from Cackle Hatchery. While they are nowhere near SOP, this flock has been healthy and trouble free.

Does anyone have knowledge on Buff Orpington breeding? Hi, I'm 13 and I have a buff Orpington Roo and we think our hatched egg was from a silver laced Wyandotte. With Stormtrooper(the buff roo) as the daddy. The chick looks as though it is becoming a golden laced one of the sisters from the same colored egg has a strange brown pattern. Is there a reason for this?

Most likely a matter of genetics. Could be she's a mix of something else or simply an 'expression' of a recessive gene. I had a Black Copper Marans chick who had an odd lace pattern to her feather but when she molted she looked like a 'normal' Black Copper Marans.
