    Waterering System

Well, my first suggestion is to turn OFF Caps lock! You've got a lot of questions in there for one post. Your methods sound like they will work. As long as they get water, it doesn't matter how it gets to them, IMO.

Should I rip out my OSB flooring?

Quote: Someone explain to me how a floor that is off the ground, and covered from the top, is going to get enough moisture on the underside to cause damage? Does water jump somehow? I've been building sheds for 14 years and in construction for over 20. The only thing you need to worry about...

Thoughts on how to mount a chicken shed on wheels?

I'd just use the stuff from TSC. You figure that when they say the weight, they mean for actually towing and moving on a consistent basis. You're only going to move the coop a little each time. Also, they give a number, but it could certainly handle more. How many people really know how much...

    confused hen or rooster?

A buddy of mine has a chicken that seems to be trying to crow, but still lays eggs. He says the hen is a little bigger than the others, with a bigger comb and wattle. Anybody have a similar situation or know anything?

eggs in the fridge, then out, then in?

A couple more confirmations and it looks like I'll be hearing the sweet sound of my wife saying, "I was wrong....."

eggs in the fridge, then out, then in?

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, but it's about eggs, so....... When we get our eggs, we put them into the fridge. We brought some to a friend who forgot to pick them up, and we brought them back home. They've been out of the fridge 24 hours. My wife thinks they're bad now. I...

Heater element or the whole kit and kaboodle?

I spent last night looking at waterers and feeders. Just look through the pages of 'managing your flock' and you'll find some home-made heaters that are much cheaper. There are even a couple of things on YouTube.

    wasted food...help

Lots of posts on here with cheap homemade feeders. (I was just looking last night.) Just start looking in the previous post pages for feeders- you can spend hours reading on this previously discussed topic.

I set my timer for 14 hours of light

I just went out this morning ( still fairly dark) to see what was happening. My light goes on at 6 (prior to sunrise) and they are all awake. They aren't moving too much, but they are all standing with eyes open. I may change my timer to add more of the extra 'daylight' hours in the morning to...

I set my timer for 14 hours of light

I wasn't getting the egg production I thought I should be getting and added light via a timer. It's on for an extra hour in the morning, and 3 more at night. I went out twice this evening and both times, they were on the roost with their eyes CLOSED!! This last time, most had their heads under...

    new coop and chickens

Quote: In the words of a teenager- meh. She hides her interest in this chicken thing! I can tell you that to make it a more symetrical, we printed something off the computer, then traced it. I then took the skill saw and cut it out. I attached a piece of plexi-glass to the inside of the...

    new coop and chickens

Found this site and thought I'd share. Took me 5 years to finally get chickens. I own a business building backyard sheds, and got this old barn from a lady that wanted a bigger one. It was originally built by my company, and was in great condition inside. I added a window in back, and a...
