I impulse bought some “mixed breed” fertile eggs from eBay and out of 14 eggs, only two hatched. This little one was the first and I can’t seem to figure out the breed. Also, this is the first time I’ve ever had a chicken that would rather cuddle with me than the other chicks in the brooder.
first time hatching chicks here and have been given some conflicting advice. We were told not to open the incubator after day 18 to keep the humidity up. Fine, understood. Our incubator STINKS so bad so we have a possible rotten egg in there that we should “find and remove immediately” but we...
My boyfriend has tried to get them the last 3 years cause they are messing with his deer hunting but they’re tricky critters to hunt I guess. I would have hit it with my car if it wasn’t for that darn corn field.

Thanks! Should I rinse her bum with water before putting the blue Kote on? I have no idea how bad it really is. It was dark out there by the time I went to close the pen gate.
We have been free ranging our chickens and they’re so happy. Today I came home to find a coyote in my back yard (it was 5:30 PM), most of my hens missing and a pile of feathers by their favorite tree. I ran the coyote off and all the chickens came back but one :(
One of my hens had all her...
