White bumps on comb, can’t tell if it’s fowl pox?

Thanks, that’s very helpful! I will try that.

White bumps on comb, can’t tell if it’s fowl pox?

Thanks so much. Mosquitoes are definitely an issue here. I don’t remember where I read about the ACV, but I’ll switch to iodine.

White bumps on comb, can’t tell if it’s fowl pox?

I have been combing the web and forums trying to figure out if these white bumps on my hen’s comb are fowl pox and can’t figure it out! I’ve applied some anti fungal and apple cider vinegar but no change yet. She’s acting normal and looks healthy otherwise. Curious to hear if anyone recognizes...

Only one hen and a rooster left 🙁

Alas, I wasn’t able to do that, but what a sweet suggestion— thanks!

Only one hen and a rooster left 🙁

I’m so sorry for the delayed reply— thank you for your kind words! We have fortified the run and are slowly introducing some new pullets. All is well so far. So glad your Honey adjusted!

Only one hen and a rooster left 🙁

We had a possum attack and the lone survivors are one hen and one rooster. I currently don’t have any chicks brooding and am not sure what to do to build up a flock again after we fortify our run. Our rooster (Rhode Island Red) hasn’t been the nicest and I’m worried about him picking on the one...

Chicken lethargic, moving strangely, poop on feathers

I want to to thank you all for your help. I brought the hen in and gave her a warm Epsom salt bath; she spent the afternoon in our bathroom and I put a heat lamp on and let the shower steam up, hoping to help her pass an egg. But it became clear from what you said and other sources I was reading...

Chicken lethargic, moving strangely, poop on feathers

It came out more fully formed, but this is after I poked it with a stick a bit to see if I could find worms. Thank you all for your help.

Chicken lethargic, moving strangely, poop on feathers

I just went out to check, and conveniently, she had just pooped and was still standing over it (since she doesn't like to move now). It was pale brown with white mixed in. Definitely not normal.

Her crop seems OK but her belly does seem a little swollen. I haven't wormed…maybe I should try that first?

Chicken lethargic, moving strangely, poop on feathers

Hi everyone! This is my first time with a sick chicken so I'm really not sure what to do. My hen is almost 2 years old and has started acting very strangely. While the others peck around outside, she stays hunched in the coop or stands in this very unnatural looking straight-up position (see...

Housing Dilemma: lots of space, but lots of predators too. Tractor? Fence? Confused!

Thanks to all for your feedback. All of these options sound good in different ways; my husband and I will talk it over and come up with a plan. In some ways starting small might have been harder because I feel so worried about losing even one chicken...but this is what we can handle right now...

Housing Dilemma: lots of space, but lots of predators too. Tractor? Fence? Confused!

Hello all! I'm new to chickens and we are starting small this year with three birds. I've been reading everything I can on this great site about housing but still can't figure out quite what to do for our situation, so thought I'd post this question. Friends gave us a very solid, well-built...
