2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

I have decided from some research here on BYC that they are splayed legged. I have read that this sometimes happens to incubated peachicks. So I taped their legs together with a bandage and wrapped them up like a burrito in a paper towel and I think I am supposed to keep them that way for about...

2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

The feed store I go to only sells Nutrena. They have a gamebird that is 28% protein but I don't think it is medicated.

The bag doesn't say it just says meatbird. This was suggested to me for the turkey poults and my coturnix quail. Should they be eating something with medication in it? They are inside in a large aquarium with a screened lid and a heat lamp in one end. I dipped their beaks when I introduced...

2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

Hello everyone! I had 6 shipped eggs and 3 of them hatched . I set them under a broody hen for about 18 days and then transferred them to an incubator. 2 hatched yesterday on day 26 and 1 today, day 27. They look great but they are really lazy, they are not standing much. Should I be...

    Straining chicken

Hello, I have a 12 week old chicken who I noticed today to have a white pasty-like butt. I brought her in and immediately put her in a warm bath to loosen what I thought was built-up crud on her butt. I soon discovered that the other youngsters have been picking at her butt and it is scarred...

OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Has anyone been to Lucasville yet or going this weekend? It looks like a pretty big setup. Has anyone been there in recent years? What do they normally have for sale there? Just wondering if it would be worth the two hour drive from my home. Thanks

OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Yes I agree there were tons of spaces open and nowhere near as many birds as I expected to see. But I did get a lot of exercise walking around looking and met a few nice people. If anyone out there know where I can get an ostrich chick from let me know please and I will be very grateful. Thank you

I was so excited to go to the swap today to see if they had ostriches and I drove for over two hours and there was not an ostrich to be seen :(
