Hi Everyone,
I'm a classroom hatcher and I have two sets of eggs in two incubators. Brahama's on Day 8 and Silkie's on Day 3. At some point between yesterday at 4 pm and today at noon there was a continued power loss to the incubators and the temperature dropped to about 60 degrees in both of...
Hi Everyone,
I need help! This is my fourth chicken hatch but my thermometer flopped on me during the first three days of incubation. I noticed towards the end of day 3 that my temp was about 93 instead of 99. I’ve read that this can cause abnormalities and malformations. I’m a classroom teacher...
Hi there,
I've tried to search the forum for this but can't seem to find it. When candling a duck egg (mine are on day 25 tom and about to go into lockdown), how can I tell if there is an internal pip??
So my duck eggs are going on lockdown tomorrow (day 25) and some of my air cells are huge! I had a few that had very small air cells so I lowered the humidity for a few days. This caused the other eggs air cells to expand a lot! On some the dip is almost half way down the egg! What do I do...
Hi dotknott,
2/3 of the eggs are where they should be for day 14. 1/3 of them are at day 7 sizes. They've grown a bit but not much compared to the others. I don't know what to do humidity wise. I've been keeping it around 30 the past few days but still mist them. Do I go dry or go up to 55 humidity?
Hi there,
I'm incubating 12 duck eggs for the first time. About 5/12 have small air sacs and we are on day 15 but the others are fine. My humidity has been in the 40s which I thought was kind of low but apparently not as some of my eggs air sacs are still so small. I've been cooling and misting...
So this pink stuff seems to have resolved itself. I think it might just have been the way I was candling . On another note tho a few eggs a few of my eggs are showing yellow now. Could this be a ruptured yolk? If it is do I put them in the lockdown?
I will take pics and post tomorrow! I'm used to hatching chick eggs and not used to seeing this fluid. Still movement in all of them so not sure what this is.
Hi everyone,
Wondering if someone can help me. I'm hatching duck eggs for the first time. They were camdling normal up till now but now on day 10 there seems to be some pink fluid around the air sac. I still see veins and an embryo but some of them have a lot of pink fluid. Anyone have any ideas...
Thank you everyone! The inner membrane was wrapped very tightly around the chick. He couldn't move at all. However, I'm confused because he was very wet and the inner membrane was moist and wiped away somewhat easily with my finger dipped in warm water....
Hi there,
This is my second year hatching eggs in my classroom. Last year I had no problems but this year I think I had 3 shrink wrapped chicks. I did everything the same as last year and used all the same equipment but obviously something went wrong. I think I managed to save all 3 after I...
