    Egg bound or broody?

Plus there is no breaking a broody parrot - if you try you will pay the price with a bloody finger or 10. I closed up the chicken shed and I packed things in her nest so she could not go there last night. Today she scratched out some of my plants and made a new nest in the garden. Are you...

    Egg bound or broody?

That is Sally through and through theoldchick. Ok so she is imagining that we did not pick up all her eggs. Last year she was very sneaky and build a nest where we could no find her and only discovered her when it was already too late to take the eggs away. (We had her for less than a month...

    Egg bound or broody?

To me broody means she wants chicks. So how on earth is she planning on getting that right without laying eggs? I find this very funny in a cute way.

    Egg bound or broody?

She has not laid any eggs this past 10 days, your answer makes me worry again that she might be egg bound? She does not move off the nest and if we put her outside she goes back to the nest right after eating. No I dont want chicks again, the previous 10 was enough. Can she be egg bound for...

    Egg bound or broody?

I did not know she will stop laying if she is broody, how on earth is she then planning on having chicks? How long does broodiness usually last? Should I close the chicken coop so she cant go to her nest? They roam free in my back garden. Thanks for your answers.

    Egg bound or broody?

I have a silkie hen and rooster (Sally & Harry). Last year December Sally hatched 10 chicks so it is almost that time of the year again. Sally has not laid any eggs for the past 10 days and she stays on her nest all the time. If we want to pick her up she gets really upset with us. When we...

Fowl pox - eyes are shut

The vet did discus the vaccine with us when we were there, he said that it is pointless given it now and I should wait until our next summer around November. After reading up about it on this forum I kept on reading that everyone says that they become immune against fowl pox after they had it...

Fowl pox - eyes are shut

Thank you for your warm welcome. We did what you said and I could almost see the corner of his eye after this mornings soaking, maybe it is just me hoping so hard. Here are the photos of the two that I am really concerned about. This one seems to be doing fine and is eating happily. This...

Fowl pox - eyes are shut

Thank you for your response. I will do the soaking thanks, before and after work. My heart is really bleeding for them. I will take photos tonight and ask as we go along with the treatment. Both Harry and Sally have no bites on them, they look perfect. I HATE mosquitoes!!!!

Fowl pox - eyes are shut

Halo everyone, I am Afrikaans and from South Africa. I have 9 Silkies, Harry and Sally and their 7 chicks that were born on the 15th of Jan 11. They are all free range but do have sleeping corners. I started seeing sores on two of the chicks faces but thought that it was maybe because of...
