  • Hi Pyxis!
Wondering if you have information about an emu egg incubator that would turn the eggs? Google is coming up blank for me and our emus have started laying! Thanks so much for any advice!

Hi! What size incubator are you looking for? Generally anything for emus that is autoturning is gonna have to be a cabinet incubator, BUT if you could get ahold of an old style Brinsea, once of their Octagon models, you can situate the eggs such that they are rocked side to side in one of those.
hi @HuffleClaw told me you might be able to sell me emu eggs or chicks and ship them im wondering if you can if so how much money do you want for some eggs or chicks and if you can send eggs what would be the best budget auto turning emu incubator? also i would prefer chicks but eggs would be fine
Hi Pyxis, I was wondering what a silver mallard Call drake crossed with a mallard Call hen would produce? Thanks

Hi! So when you say silver mallard, I think you mean what we call Pastel in the US? That is, a mallard patterned duck that has two copies of the blue dilution gene?

If yes, then you will get all blue fawn ducklings - I think you would call those blue mallard, maybe?
Not sure where to ask... but I have a gray call hen, 2 pastel call
Hens, and 1 pastel call drake... if I bred the pastel drake to my grey, would the offspring be colored similarly to the pastel call? Or more "wild-type" mallard/grey colored?
Thank you. I did manage to get the poor fellow out. His foot was crossed over his eyes almost like a rubber band. But, he is tiny.
I still have 1 unhatched egg, no pip or crack. Float test still shows a "good" egg what I don't know is it living or just a fertilized developed egg that died?
These are rescued wild mallard eggs with unknown hatch date.
I have a wild mallard duckling in an incubator with a large pip. can I use olive oil instead of coconut oil to keep moist. Humidity at 76%

If you don't have coconut oil, I'd actually go with something like Neosporin or Bacitracin instead :)
I heard that you may have some call ducklings for sale, I am looking for 2 to add to my flock!! Let me know, thank you

I'm sorry, I don't, but you may want to check with @learycow. She is also in Maine, so you might be able to just drive and pick them up, too.
What would be the outcome of a Pastel Call drake crossed with White Call duck hens?

Oh, and all the ducklings will either be on mallard base (e+) or will be split to mallard base. If any of the white hens are an extended black color (E+) 'under' the white, then that will be dominant and you'll see blue bibbed, silver bibbed, etc ducklings, but those will also be carrying mallard base (e+). Which is helpful to know for future breeding down the line.

Thank you! I think I might try it!

It'll be fun to see what you end up with :)
Hello, Question do you know where I may get a emu egg or baby chick? 1 of mine didn't hatch so now he is alone.
