  • On Saturday we also got our first egg in months! Store bought eggs can't compete with fresh ones. Thanks, L.T. In this picture you can see all the chicks. Their mom(s) Bullet and Flag, are on the left. Then it's Tequila and Thor, and Flash and Moon. Marigold is in the front.

We re-homed the boys on Saturday. It's a good place. Tequila slept on the roost for the first time Wednesday. Moon is the only chick who has not tried to sleep on the roost. They are 15 weeks now, and still follow their mom like babies. Both Bullet and Flag still call them over for treats. Aren't they supposed to be on their own by now?
Yesterday our first chicks hatched. 2 yellow, 1 gray. Earlier today, I found another gray had hatched during the night (EE?) and later a yellow. We also noticed one of yellows had feathered legs. I'm hoping it will be the frizzle.
Bullet's Broody! Today we went to Open Gate farm to get her some hatching eggs. We bought the rainbow mix and got 6 Olive Eggers, 1 or 2 Easter Eggers, and possibly a Frizzle. They're due to hatch in 3 weeks. I'll post when that happens or possibly before if anything worth note happens.
    R.I.P High Twin.

Yesterday my flock suffered it's first casualty.

One of my Plymouth Rock twins was killed by a hawk while free ranging in my back yard.

My Black Sex Link was missing for about 2 hours afterwards. Her best friend, Flag, an EE, was quite upset in this time.

    Memorial thread coming soon.
