Hey! :hugs I've been doing great! I'm back in the chicken keeping game! I've got two beautiful new Rhode Islands, (one male and one female) and I got back my old girl Hailey! I went through a move a while back. (I'm still in the same county.) And I am enjoying the company of my three chickens and cat!

That's good to hear! Congrats on getting your girl Hailey back too. That had to be an exciting moment for both of you!

Thanks! I can't believe she's seven years old! My rooster has been crowing for some time now but I'm still awaiting the first egg from my girl Charlotte!

Oh, wow! She's an old girl then. Aww! Hopefully Charlotte will start laying for you soon. How old are they?

I got them a few days before Easter, so a little over five months!

She should be laying anytime, I would think. Have you checked her at all to see if she's close? Maybe she needs some fake eggs in the nesting box to encourage her?

I think so as well! She's been checking out the nesting boxes recently, I saw her in one yesterday but no egg yet. I also don't have anything like fake eggs in the boxes right this minute, but good idea!

It sounds like she's getting close then. If you don't have fake eggs, some people use golf balls. Even a store bought egg or two (at room temperature) would probably be fine if it's not left in the nest more than a day or two.
