1 Gallon Poultry Waterer

The nesting jar reduces storage space and its lug design makes attachment easy, while the low...
Pros: Larger water so less refilling
Cons: pops open to easily
Pops open to easily and at 2 to 3 weeks the chicks begin roosting on them, if its not very full they will knock them over, so more work because now you're changing litter more often

Pros: Good size for multiple waterers. Easy to clean.
Cons: No handle to carry right side up or hang. No room for error in assembly or it will leak.
I prefer these to the 2 gallon that I've had. The lack of handle on top means you can't hang it, so it is more prone to knock over and spill. The size is great for a small backyard flock. I have 3 in my coop (80 sf) so each hen gets plenty of water.

Pros: Holds a lot
Easy for the birds to drink from
Cons: Leaks sometimes
Gets filled with shavings/dirt
I like this waterer because it’s easy to clean, and easy for the birds to drink from. It does get filled with shavings or dirt easily, but that’s not really a defect. I find that if the base isn’t screwed on perfectly straight it leaks. Overall it’s a great product has I use it quite a bit!
Pros: Strong, durable
Cons: None really double check and make sure you screw bottom base on all the way after refilling.. Its really low to ground, so i simply sit it on a stepping stone for my flock to keep up higher
Gr8! Never buy a quart again unless its a mason jar you will be using. Slightly) , Offtl topic, but may i recommend using a dollar bottle cleaner from dollar store to keep the plastic quarts clean. :)
Pros: Affordable, holds a lot, easy to find and clean
Cons: Gets dirty quickly, prone to crack when in direct sunlight or cold, jar doesn't fasten well to tray
Its a great intro product for your flock, but you'll need to make special arrangements for it in a coop or run. It's fairly durable if used gently, the price in my area seems a bit steep for something plastic. My flock loved to perch on these and poop in their food/water so it need to be checked and cleaned at least once daily if not more. I'd go with a hanging waterer/feeder instead of one of these.

Pros: Holds a lot of water for its size, easy to refill.
Cons: Very easy to screw it together wrong, leaks easily.
I really like this waterer for looks, and for how it works. If put together correctly, it works really well. I have a small wooden block in my coop, and it's high enough to keep the chickens from scratching shavings into the water. I would buy this product, but be very careful to screw it together correctly.
Pros: Nice size to carry, easy to clean , cheap.Great for birds in isolation.
Cons: None
I have 4 of these. Great size to add probiotics/ electrolytes to a hens diet . I use it for new chicks with marbles in the trough. Easy to clean and a great price , I add apple cider sometimes so the ability to clean it afterwards is important.

Pros: Fits in small spaces. Easy to keep clean
Cons: Easy to get dirt or shavings in tray
For young flocks or small ones this is great. It is fairly essay to keep clean. It also fits great in small spaces. The only bad part is it easily gets dirt or shavings inside the tray. Also the lid is hard to screw on sometimes. Overall it is one of the best investments that I have made!

Pros: Easy to clean, holds a nice amount of water.
Cons: It is light enough that chickens always knock it over.
I have 1 of these waterers, they work pretty well, though my other one broke because it sat in the sun, but that is my fault, not the manufacturers, I can clean it fairly easily, I do not recommend for full grown birds, because they will tip it.

Pros: Doesn't rust
Cons: BACTERIA TRAP
I've had one for 3 years. It is great for small flock and very durable. However, it pulls the dirty water back in. If you screw it closed too much, it doesn't let out the water evenly. If you leave it loose, you will fill the thing with bacteria and filth.
Pros: Good for young fowl- difficult to drown.
Cons: Needs tobe refilled several times a day and is very messy/spills easily.
In general, not a very practical product.
Pros: *They always fill up*
Cons: Has to be level, the spill a lot, very small, is akward to pick up, and the chicks roost on top, also it needs to be clean 3 TIMES A DAY.
NOT very good but if you have only 2-3 chicks or chickens its alright
Pros: easy to fill, lightweight, hens like it, inexpensive
I have two of these for my small flock of 5 hens. Each day I take fresh water to the hens in one waterer and bring the other one inside for cleaning and refilling. If we will be away for a day or two, I put both waterers in the coop. The waterer rests on a concrete block and I level it with shims. In their large run I have a larger waterer that fills from the top. It rests on bricks and is also leveled. These work for me. One of the small waterers did crack and break, but I replaced it easily and inexpensively at the local feed and seed.
Pros: None in my book..
Cons: Sits too low and is too exposed, easily causing quick accumulation of poo, bedding, pee, etc..
I don't care much at all for those ground waterers/feeders. It's a "quick and cheap" design.
Even though that's the natural way birds feed (ground level), it's still just not good(clean) enough if your raising chicks.
I mean, seriously though, if your going to raise chicks(or any living thing), provide them with the best(always fresh/clean water & food).

I highly prefer hanging feeders because they always dispense cleaner water and it doesn't accumulate a nasty poopy buildup!
Nicest part about hanging waterers/feeders, is that the reservoir stays much cleaner, and it won't "suction-up" nasty poo, bedding, etc. back into the reservoir..
(Much less cleaning/flushing = more water for chicks and much less waste!)

I noticed that on those "exposed ground bowls", the waste(poo, bedding..) would get sucked back up into the large reservoir, now that's NASTY!
I would NOT want to drink my own poo, nor any other person's poo every time I drank water!.. Not gonna happen!

The pic below is my custom hanging waterer.
It has 5 nipples and can feed many chicks(12+) for about one week before having to refill.
(and according to the label, it's a food/water safe plastic(hopefully) ).

They all use it and love it! But, only when they get a bit bigger (around 3 days old), they'll begin to learn how to work the nipples.

I can easily build these if anyone is interested.
Contact me if you would like to try one. I'll sell them for a good deal.
Pros: 1 Gallon Capacity, Economical (cheap), easy to clean
Cons: Gets dirty, hard to screw top to base
I purchased this waterer, although the base was in purple, from our local farm store. The little 1 quart waterer was obsolete once my chicks turned 8 weeks, so I needed something that could hold a larger amount and wouldn't be tipped over by the girls. This holds a gallon, and although I do have to clean it once a day, I really don't need to refill it more than once every two days depending on how warm the weather is. The base and top are difficult to screw on, though, and it can be awkward to carry as it has no handle. You have to carry it upside down to the coop, then carefully turn it over just before I placing it. Considering that the waterer is so low priced, I expected it to have some issues. So far, it keeps pretty clean as I have it on top of a cinder block, although it does get dust and dirt in it each day. I only have it on a level surface, so I am not sure if this would work if there was any unevenness in a coop. I haven't had a problem with the girls soiling it with shavings or poo which is a plus. I haven't had any spillage yet, nor any problems with the water flow, so far so good. The birds seem satisfied and the water stays pretty cool inside the thick plastic. It's a very simple design, similar to the chick waterer I had, just a bigger size. Seems good for my tiny flock.

Pros: Water capacity, sturdy, easy to clean
Cons: No handle, Hard to Hold
I haven't had any problems really with this waterer. In my opinion it's a pretty good waterer for the price you pay. Only issue I had is how easy it is for dirt/shavings to get in it. I have to clean it several times a day. If it had a handle of some sort so I could hang it that'd make it great. When it's wet I have dropped it a few times because it becomes slippery. It's not easily knocked over by my chicks.

Pros: good water capacity, doesn't flip over, light weight material, washable
Cons: doesn't have a carrying handle, top doesn't attach well to base, ether overflows or doesn't flow well at all, gets dirty easily, bottom pops off
while this waterier does have a good size for water capacity and isn't easily knocked over it doesn't have a carrying handle which is really starting to get on my nerves. I know it may not matter to some people who get their kids or family members to do the chicken chores but i am a one (wo) man show. I don't have a good grip to begin with and this thing keeps slipping out of my hands when i have to clean a half full waterier because the filling tray at the bottom is so dirty the water won't flow i don't have money to keep throwing at replacement bottoms.

And speaking of flow issues if the top not screwed on tight enough when the waterier is flipped over the top comes off and water goes everywhere but if the top is screwed on too tight the water comes out at a slow breakneck pace that barely fills the bottom filling tray leaving you to wonder if the chickens can drink from water that is no higher then a Millimeter. I refill the water daily because of where we live and the real possibility of algae in the wateriers and this thing is dirty every day sometimes minutes after i fill it the bottom try is just to big and chickens too dirty to keep clean until a good amount of water is consumed for the waterier not to be that heavy.

Futher more break out the leveler you will need it with this waterier if this waterier isn't 110% level it will over flow.

Pros: "easy to fill easy screw on"
Cons: "fill's with litter easily broke"
We used this to water our 65 laying hen chicks 4 turkey poults and 15 ducks it worked quite well very breakable tho.
Pros: Easy to use and easy to clean. Stays together when turned over unlike my heated waterer. I own four of them and never had a problem with any.
Cons: Does get shaving in the base but chickens scratch so to be expected.
Very happy with this product.
