African

African geese actually didn't originate from Africa at all, but descended from the Swan goose in...
Beautiful geese
Pros: Big, gorgeous, great watch geese
Make all kinds of racket when a stranger goes out back. However, they have never attacked or bitten anyone. I had always heard that geese could get awfully mean. Mine are not. They are just very vocal. I got them to be watch geese and they do their job very well. Wasn't able to get any babies in this their first laying season which was a disappointment. Goose only laid once a week or so and didn't go broody until July. Also had a skunk problem for awhile early in the year. Hoping she starts laying sooner this year and goes broody sooner. She knows where her nest is now so things should go more smoothly. The goose was still almost a baby when that picture was taken.

Pros: females are kind
Cons: loud, males are aggressive
The female that i raised from a baby loves me. She follows me around, jumps in my lap, gives me goose kisses, lets me pet her, and makes me pick her up. The male that i got the same day is aggressive. He bites hard. They are very noisy when people arrive.
Pros: Beautiful! Sweet! Protective! Big eggs!
Cons: None!
I must say when I first saw these geese in person I instantly fell in love with them :love they were so beautiful and let me just say intimidating! They weren't even being mean they were just so large and loud! My two goslings (9 months old)are just so protective of me and the rest of the flock they bite everyone and everything! They get an attitude with me sometimes but aren't brave enough yet to attack or bite me but I've dealt with enough mean birds I'm not intimidated now that I've raised them since they were small but at first glance  they are very fierce but I truly wouldn't want any other breed.I love these and I can't wait to see what their genders are! If you can get past their fierceness I know you'll love them too!

I posted this 4 weeks ago WOW have they both changed I have two females & they both lay! One goose is very nippy and aggressive to strangers and predators even more so now she does bite at me but I just tell her no and pull away & that shoos her off.But strangers look out! I always wanted an attack goose now I have one! I love her she is wonderful! :clap

Pros: defensive of ducks, frightens predators, nice to me, very tame, good holder
Cons: loud, hates everyone that isn't me
I got them as chicks. They are very intimidating to predators. They scared away a raccoon that got into my poultry coop. I have worked with them since they are babies and they are great for holding and catching with me. The major problem is that they hate people that aren't me. They're used to me, and me only. They don't take too kindly to visitors.
