Amber Star Hybrid

The Amber Star is a fantastic chicken is all senses, she is a Rhode Island Red based Hybrid...
Friendliest chicken breed EVER
Pros: Super smart, kind, lovable, fantastic layers
Cons: Just a bit sassy to new chickens; lets just say she wasn't the most welcome.
I once had an Amberlink, I have no clue if it's the same as an Amber Star hybrid, but anyway, she was the sweetest girl ever, hopped up on my chair outside for treats. Very very smart, let me just say, however if I can recall she could be kinda sassy to the other chickens. Not really mean exactly, just not the nicest. Her name was Lucille. Lucille laid very pretty medium brown eggs if I can recall. I think she died of congestive heart failure. :(
Pros: Friendly, good egg layers, strong, disease resistant
Cons: Tend to go broody often (this could be a positve attribute to others).
Bought 4 of these at local feed store last year. Bought 4 or 5 other breeds as well. Lost many of my pullets due to rounds of fowl pox, coccidiosis and roundworms. All of the amberlinks made it through all of that. This year they are laying beautiful brown eggs. The only issue I've had with them is that they all went broody....at the same time! Other than that, they are very friendly and good natured. W

How did you break the broodiness?? I have had one broody for 3 weeks bow and ive tried everything, yesterday another started, and now today one of my browns has started. I got 9 new leghorns this week too and i need the eggs!!!
Pros: Smart, Friendly
Cons: None!
I just got two this past week, and they are very great, even as chicks. This is the second time I've had chickens, and I hope the flock back up and running. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to spend time with their little babies. A friend and I have chosen the name's "Mariah" and "Daryl" :D
Pros: Lays lots of eggs, great personality, not aggressive, hardy
I have four Amber Stars and they're great chickens. They've entertained me from day 1 with their cute personalities and continue to do so. They get along great with my other chickens. Their eggs are anything but uncommon right now. Also, they've made it through a rough winter, so that is a good thing.
They are such beautiful birds! God is great.:D
Pros: Great layers, pretty docile, beautiful
Cons: Sometimes almost to friendly!!!
We have at least three if not four of these beautiful birds! One of them, Nellie, recently got attacked by a hawk. All we found was feathers. A little bit later she walked right up the barn! She is now perfectly fine and no one would guess that she had been attacked. Her and another pullet like to jump up on my head and arms for treats. They lay almost every day!!! Great birds for a beginner, advanced or expert chicken keeper!! Highly recommended!!

Pros: curious, pretty, good layer, friendly, like attention
Cons: these little guys can fly!
Very sweet and interesting birds;

My girls will come and hop onto my lap and beg for attention; especially when I'm holding another chicken! The only kind of con I have about them is that they are huge fliers/climbers and are pretty mischievous! They are always getting into something

Pros: Great Egg Layer, Wonderful Personalities, Family Friendly
Cons: You get far too attached.
These are real sweeties, mine would jump straight up onto my knees and beg for attention.
Tamed easily even when you've not reared them yourselves.
Loved being handled and don't object to watching TV on the sofa with you.
Lap cat of the chicken world.

Fairly hardy and pretty for a hybrid too.
Absolutely devastating when you lose them though :(

Pros: Sweet docile great for children, adapt well to an existing flock.
Cons: You can't show them.
I have six mainly for eggs and they are just sweet easily tamed, and they seem to respect already existing pecking orders. They are generally very hard birds as well. A great pick for those just starting out or very experienced flock masters!
Pros: Supposedly good layers and a good pet
Cons: I can't find any!
I don't have any, but if I could find some, I would get them. I'm not sure why they seem really uncommon. If they are anything like people describe them, I sure they would be very popular.
Got 2 of these pretty girls a week ago.
