Easter Egger bantams are realated to Easter Eggers except they are a bantam breed. They are friendly, great layers of eggs. Roosters can be aggressive. Please note that while they chiefly lay blue or green eggs, they may (rarely) lay any egg color, including tinted, white, brown or even pinkish eggs. Bantam Easter Eggers especially tend to be good in the heat because of their dainty size, and their small pea comb means they do well in cold, too, because they are not as susceptible to frostbite. (They are typically not good winter layers, though.) "Easter Eggers" are hybrids that carry the blue-egg gene. We like to think that the pea comb is linked not only to the blue egg laying gene, but also to the "sweetness" gene, as well. Because this is a hybrid variety (not a breed), even if you have a whole flock of them, you can often tell them apart because they come in so many different colors - which isn't always possible with other breeds.

Latest reviews

Pros: Hybrid vigor, good layer, sexed by color day old.
Extremely hard egg.
Cons: Does not lay through winter.
Sometimes the eggs aren't blueish or greenish.
The male lines were a cross between golden laced polish and bantam araucana.
The female lines were bantam cuckoo marans feather legged.

She is crested, feather legged, black sex-linked of a wheaten type and has a V-shaped comb, almost similar to the pure breed called polish.

Bought her on September 2009.

How on earth are they sexed by color?

Cuckoo color carries the barring gene. Non barred males over barred females create color sexable chicks.
Pros: Sweet, gentle, fun and entertaining, plus you can’t beat tiny little green eggs!
I enjoy having a little Easter Egger bantam in my flock. They make a great addition to any flock! If socialized them when young they are the sweetest things as adults, otherwise they can be skittish, they just need to see you often and know they can trust you.
You can not beat that egg color especially for a bantam! Occasionally you could get one that lays cream eggs, but sometimes they’ll lay green or blue. They’re egg production is ok, maybe 3-4 times a week. I have a hen that should start laying any time now, I’m looking forward to seeing what egg color I’ll get.
I would definitely recommend this breed, they make a great addition to any flock!
P.S- Baby Easter egger bantams, are the fluffiest and softest chicks I’ve ever raised... even more so than silkies!

Pros: Gorgeous, sweet, beautiful eggs, cold hardy.
Cons: Can get broody, my rooster got aggresive
I have three EE's and they are all sweet and docile. Personality plays a part but on the whole each is very calm and approachable. Mine will fly to my arms to get treats or say hello. My three lay blue and teal eggs every other day at a year old. Lately they are going broody and I'm having trouble breaking them of it. At least they aren't holding all the getting pulled of the eggs against me.
These are my favorite to watch develop plumage since they have three patterns as they age. They are really good flyers but have done well in my covered coop with high roosts.
My rooster got aggressive and had to go even though he was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen and had been handled throughout his chick hood.

I think this needs to be checked over. EE standards and bantams are not recognized by the APA or the ABA, and even if they were, they wouldn't be in the Game Bantam Class.

How can you tell a bantam from a regular sized Easter egger - they mixed them up in the feed store 🤦🏼‍♀️ I want a bantam Easter egger or really just any color trying to add some colorful eggs to my bantam flock, wondering there was a some sort if secret I even saw some with five toes and fluffy legs in with the reg birds! Oh my goodness! No one knew anything and soooo many had pasty butt BAD-😡 I felt so sorry for them:( No one knew anything there!
