French Toulouse

Best goose ever. I do not have experience in other geese so I will be very bias on my responses. I LOVE our bird. She gives hugs and follows me everywhere. She is super smart opens things and then will lift a wing for me to touch her soft under fluff if she can nibble on my hair hahaha. She knows the words no and get over here, live that alone, greens and small words. It has been a lot of training and time with her but it is worth every minute. She is a great addition to our family and flock. Her feather are beautiful and SSOOOOOO Soft. Every bird is different just like a human being we have different likes and personality's so everyones opinions can very. I recommend this goose if you want a watch bird they will for sure let you know if anyone is in the area they don't know or agree with. They will be vocal when they see fit and can be a bit stubborn in "season changes" . I personally love my bird and we do everything together. I have read a lot on the French Toulouse breed and geese in general prior to owning one. They are completely different then my chickens and ducks. Her wing strength is ridiculous strong I would hate to be a intruder and meet those wings. And her teeth are sharp. She has accidentally nibbled when given a fruit or something small so I have encountered that a couple of times but its not intentional. They do have a very impressive memory so don't anger them they will remember you forever. Overall a great goose to have and I adore mine.

We've had toulouse geese for years now, with one that we've owned since the beginning still laying eggs.
They have a wide variety of personalities, and if you're willing to take a bit of a beating, they can be subdued fairly quickly.
However, every single year, our goose gets broody, and her mate gets all protective, and in general, it's a bad time.
Too many babies.

We adopted a Toulouse-African cross goose and a Toulouse-Sebastapol gander at 9 months old.

The goose is very sweet, curious, and adventurous. She loves exploring. She is not very talkative and moderately loud when she does talk. We love her! Five stars.

The gander is aggressive toward people and other geese, and can be mean and bossy with the ducks for no good reason. He is very good with his goose mate; a perfect gentleman and very protective. He is also incredibly, ear-splittingly, LOUD. He's not our favorite. Three stars.

They were both raised with a duck flock and are good guardians and chaperones to the ducks, although they do get bored frequently and want to wander off and explore instead of hanging around their little feathered charges.

Have three and I love this breed! Got them at a week old. Left on vacation when they hit two weeks. Came back when they were 3 weeks old and moved them inside under my table. They still happily follow me around at 3 months old, and come running for affection when they spot me.

We have had our Toulouse , Dick, for nearly a year now, and he is by far the creature of greatest interest in the yard. He honks when he sees danger and does an excellent job watching over his ducks. He is the most interesting one to watch of all the birds in the yard or kiddie pool.

These geese were crazy. I had 1 male and 1 female I bought. They would bite the chickens. Every plant I had was torn apart But their food bowl was full. Almost flew away with the Canadian geese. They were 5 months. They love to bit you. Excellent guards. Yell all night. My neighbor thought I caught them in the wild. So I did the right decision, I prefer embden geese they are very nice.

This breed is amazing- they are good for meat and eggs, but even better for pets. Our geese are the new family pet. Very sweet, gentle, and they tamed really easily. So far, I like them better than our African!
