My Pet Chicken
Pros: Was able to order 1 of each breed I wanted.
Fantastic Customer Service
Changing your order is simple
Cons: Shipping was expensive for small orders, but worth it IMO
Was so pleased with my experience with MPC (my pet chicken). They answered all my questions, made suggestions on breeds for my climate, allowed me to change my order as many times as I wanted up until the Thursday before hatch day (Mondays) and all my babies showed up healthy and thriving, Will absolutely order from them in the future. Since they are still babies I cannot tell if they were sexed correctly, but I have faith in this company.
Pros: Wide variety, good stock of bird, arrived safe and healthy
Cons: Shipping costs can be high on small orders
I’ve used Cackle several times and I’m waiting on 36 Orpingtons now.
always gotten extras and always had any questions answered in a timely manner.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will give Murray McMurray a try this spring. When I looked at their site I noted there wasn't a long wait time for some breeds like there is at other hatcheries.

A minimum is 25. I think if you order less they will throw in alot of packing peanut that will be males to make up the difference. But I dont know if they will let you only order anything less than 25. You could always call and check.

MC Murray is a good hatchery to order from, I have ordered from them for years. I will say that they have gotten a little pricier. But thier quality is there and they do stand behind their birds. I did also love the rare pullet selection called the Ornamental Layer Collection you got some really cute babies in that one, and all girls!

They do get a little expensive especially when it comes to buying a different variety that isn't a package deal. I ordered some birds for this spring from a different hatchery I got all the breeds of birds and the amount of each breed that I wanted and it was close to a $50 dollar price difference with shipping. But I am really happy with the birds I ordered from Murray, they are all so healthy and beautiful and they did throw in an extra girl. My package deal was only for 25 but I got 26 girls plus my extra rare chick.

I've only had birds for 2 weeks now. I got them from Ideal and I couldn't be happier, although I have nothing to compare them to. They had great customer service. My birds arrived on time and healthy. I'd buy from them again.

My chicks came from Cackle hatchery too. I order 15, got 16, but sadly one did die a few hours after they were settled in. Other then that, they appear to be good healthy birds. Mine had to come all the way down to Florida, so I was very impressed.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I've ordered from them twice and had no deaths at all. I do think that it is the fault of the post office. I was calling them and I'm sure I became quite a pest, but that is why they called me right away when the chicks arrived! They were 3 days old by that time.
Again, I'm sorry about your terrible experience.

Why do you think they don't use a heat pack? I got some today and have had a lot of casualities. They were super cold when we got them, I thought for sure there would be a heat pack, but their wasn't I am up to nine lost out of 32 I am sure it will be atleast 13 by tomorrow, there are a few that I am not sure will make it through the night. They do have good customer service though. I have ordered from them before and they have been excellent to talk to.

I am sorry for your loss. The Post Office is horable about care of animals!!! I alwase get two extra just in case they do die but i haven't had any die so far except one wich died becuse of the mailing process they did replace it though.
Hope I helped
Ps. They promise to replace any that have died so try that again.

I just received my order from Ideal this morning. I ordered 5 Russian Orloff pullets and received an extra 20 mystery roosters. Not sure if I should be happy about the roosters yet or not.
